Call it the ExpertZone effect - some promotional type thing for some retailers via MS for Xbox 360...and yes, they get/got the demo on 10th Feb....so some lucky SOB's are out there playing the ME3 Demo to their hearts content at this very moment...

Can't really wait the next few days till released to public, gah!!!

Running texmod for the first time through the Steam trick and my AVG thinks it's a Trojan. I'm assuming this is a bogus warning?

Yeah AVG always gets false positives from Texmod.  Just let it pass.

Replaying ME2 with all your textures, and they are amazing, thank you so much for these.

Super excited about this mod. Installed the optimal ME2 texture mod with no problem. However, (this may seem like a dumb question) but is the texture pack only for the cutscenes? It seems like the textures are improved during the cutscenes but I don't see any improvement during gameplay. I've been running ME2 at the highest settings but charecters during gameplay still seem blurry even after installing this mod. Should I consider installing the Ultra TextureMod with my system? Any answer would be appreciated. My specs are:
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Quad Cpu Q8200
 RAM: 8.00GB
OS: Windows 7(64bit)
GPU: ASUS GTX570 DirectCUII.

I don't see why you couldn't run the ultra textures, seems powerful enough to me. Give it a try.

Hi;

I tried the textures and recieved a virus warning about "Texmod" from AVG Pro anti-virus software - will provide the exact type if someone can help. Then got a small popup window, "**** happens!" "Do'oh".

Has the texmod been hacked? The texture packs themselves appear not to be the source of the infection, just texmod.

Any help is appreciated...

ShadowBoomer

EDIT: Noticed from above that othere's are getting the same warning. AVG will not allow access to "Infected" files...so will uninstall, clean registry and re-try install...If you are sure that this is a bogus Trojan warning and the popup, "**** happens...Do'oh" is not a hackers warped sense of humor...

Thanks

Edit: 02/15/2012

Thanks Darman for the quick help...will give it a go today!

@thorsonlychild: It's usual that your virus protection doesn't like texmod. Had the same problem with avast. The Do'oh is part of Texmod, i think. However, it shouldn't contain a Trojan. I checked several times. Just add an exeption.

Anyway, I know that you're busy with the demo and I really don't wanna f**k someone up here but JeanLuc, how's the status of the armor? I wanna use it...

And one more question to you: On your showcase image from page 1 and also on your "first person" image on I think page 62 or 63, Shepard is wearing a special Kestrel armor with awesome shoulder parts (symbol). Is this one available?

Just played the Mass Effect 3 demo and dear lord the textures were even worse than in ME1 or ME2... Please JeanLuc do something because Bioware clearly doesn't care about PC gamers.

Well, much to my infuriation, I cannot get Texmod to work with the Mass Effect 3 demo.  Not sure if Origin is blocking it or what, but the game simply won't run.

As for the Male N7 armor, I'll look into it tonight.

I appreciate you taking time to reply, we will have to wait until the game comes out to see if texmod works.

Wow, I remember downloading your texture mods back when you only had three characters done. Now that I'm finally continuing my final ME2 playthrough that got sidelined by other games, I'm glad I stumbled across this again. Downloading the rest of the characters right now!

The ME3 demo was fun, but at points it was hard to play, those ugly ugly low res textures were more intimidating than the husks! :o

Please JeanLuc761 you must save us from this hideousness.

From what we saw in the trailers, I'd say the textues are or will be actually much better. I think they just didn't add the high res textures to the demo to keep the filesize low. Well, actually I hope that this is the reason.

Hey JeanLuc, Depositfiles took down the half-visored AAP Miranda texture. Could you upload it again?

I installed textmod the other day following your guide and everything went smoothly.  However as I started the program for the first time my anti-virus software flagged it as a "known trojan".  This kinda scared the crap outta me so I stopped immediately.  Now I doubt that there was anything wrong with the files I dl from the links in the OP, but still I wanted to ask if there was anything amiss or my AV just freaked out b/c I had edited my own files to use the mod?  I have AVG 2012 if that makes a difference.

Edit: Sorry sorry just saw a previous post about this exact issue.  I see that its an AVG thing.

^^ I would be careful with such comments. BW has about 3 weeks left, what do you think they'll change on the textures? Rework everything? This part of the game is finished since a year I guess. The only thing they're doing the months before release is marketing, testing, bugfixing and perhaps working on the multiplayer part.

all bioware would have to do is reply in one of the many threads that are complaining about the textures and say whether or not they are the actual textures. but they haven't. its reasonable to conclude this is what they are using in the finished game. there are alot of complaints about it and so far they are silent, even going as far as locking threads.

You are so dumb to believe that. Are still people using the "it's just a alpha/beta/demo" excuse? Stop lying to yourself, this is what the finished product will look like. I will bookmark your profile and send you a message when the game comes out so you can see how ****ing wrong you are.

This was a demo, people, which has the same content on the PC and the consoles. And because of the consoles it's limited in size. That's why they couldn't put in every feature. Like in the options menu (only screen resolution, and AA...) And maybe that's why the textures are low-res. In the full game, I'm sure there will be a slider for texture resolution. If I'm wrong, and there isn't one then the complaining can start.

Just a quick question for the community at large, I know the ultra mods will obviously put extra strain on my hardware but whenever I run the mod irregardless of which one (e.g. an individual mod, say Kasumi_Optimized or any other individual/other combination) my frame rates go way way down to 29...in certain areas for instance in front of the galaxy map facing joker, but if I take 5 steps forward to the side they magically go up to 50-60ish even though the same characters are still in front of Shepard, not just the galaxy map, extreme lag on every mission, even the science lab where Morden does his thing my frame rate plummets.

I have quite a powerful rig

i7 2600K @ 4.9GHz
8 GB RAM @ 1600 MHz
AMD 6990 graphics card

Could not find any material relating to my situation so just though I would ask. Latest drivers btw v12.1.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

If you read through some of this thread, you will see plenty of info. on TexMod and AMD Graphics Card framerate problems.  Without getting into too much detail, AMD Graphics cards and TexMod do not play nice together.  Places with a high amount of "holograms" such as the Combat Information Center and when talking to the Illusive Man suffer the worst.  This framerate drop is present regardless (irregardless is not a word by the way) of the number of textures used.  nVidia users generally do not report this frame rate issue.  There hasn't been any fix found.  For more information, read back through this tread and you will find a number of posts regarding this issue.

Many Thanks for you information, I am currently aware of the controversy regarding "irregardless" but I find it common enough to use it without regard for convention.

I will check through the posts and browse through the forums to see if they offer any suggestions. Cheers for the info, I was actually hoping someone would have a solution in this topic so that I would not have to hunt for one.

Cheers again for the info:happy:

Seeing how ME1 and ME2 textures didn't differ from the console version I doubt they will even bother putting better textures on ME3.
