I have this odd problem where when I start up Mass Effect 2 via Steam it opens up the modding tool and I can select the mods just fine.

But when I click on ''Run'' it just opens up another modding tool....

I think my comp is trolling me....

EDIT:

Wow ehh, I figured it out in the end....

Nevermind, maybe next time I should just try and read the OP again.....

I guess I know who's first when we charge the Reapers head on.....

So AMD cards really don't work with this?

Any way to get a version of Jack's AAP without the visor or like you did with Miranda, one that isn't so obstructive?
Thanks all the other work.

Different shaders - which are hardcoded and unable to be changed with TexMod. One uses a transparent shader, the other a metallic one.

I did manage (thanks to FemSheps fans) to get TexMod working with the demo though...and these textures are disgusting. 512x512 textures? Still? Ashley has pretty much has the exact same texture - though it's cleaned up a little and no longer grey. <_<

So there's still hope for high resolution modded textures?

I cannot seem to be able to DL the ultras from gamefront, the web page is bugged and the dl never start (got error 6: the file or directory does not exist). Any other site where you posted this Jean Luc?

Your work seems to be fabulous and appreciated so I'd really like to try it.

I Dled everything I could that was not on gamefront, but for the files on gamefront I am screwed sadely.

Thanks again JeanLuc for making my playthoughs of ME2 a delight. Almost ready for chapter 3 now. I pray I'll be able to live with BioWare's default textures...

It's all up to the modders now since they can do it. Its just a pain in the ass to get it going for ME3 (the demo at least), Have to rename the .exe twice for every launch. :pinched:

Good Lord does ME3 ever need Texmod. IF there's any improvement from the demo in the final version (some say there is, I don't think so) then it's so minor that I haven't even noticed in ~2 hours of playing.

I'm not trying to be a graphics *, but it's simply distracting in cutscenes and certain gameplay moments how low res armor, hands, and clothing look. I understand it won't for everyone, but for me, it detracts from my experience.

Tex mod wont run the mod it keeps saying d'oh may someone please help me?

I followed all of the steps as well, and TexMod tells me this exact same thing upon trying to run ME1 with the texture mods. It's literally just telling me "**** happened" and "D'oh". Is there a solution to this problem?

I've moved on to ME2, and TexMod is giving me the exact same issue. Any ideas? :?

Try running as administrator if you haven't already, that fixed it for me.

If you really meant ME3 you have to do it a odd little way to get Origin to load it.
For ME3 to run TexMod-

Put Texmod.exe and MassEffect3Demo.exe in same folder.
Make .bat file and paste the following in the file
"
@echo off
echo Renaming files...
rename MassEffect3Demo.exe MassEffect3Demo_bak.exe
rename Texmod.exe MassEffect3Demo.exe
echo In Origin click to open MassEffect3
echo after Texmod opens press key here to continue
pause
echo Renaming files...
rename MassEffect3Demo.exe Texmod.exe
rename MassEffect3Demo_bak.exe MassEffect3Demo.exe
echo Select MassEffect3Demo in texmod and continue
echo To exit press space
pause
"
save and .run bat file. Enjoy!

No, I did mean 1 and 2.
3 isn't even released over here yet. :D

But I'll keep that tip of yours in mind if I ever get TexMod to run properly and the community starts cranking out better textures for ME3.

Edit: It looks like I managed to track down the issue. :o
Apparently, my antivirus program (AVG) blacklists TexMod as a trojan or malware because of the way it hooks up with the games to read/inject the texture packages. I don't know why, but it never bothered notifiying me about this until I recently tried starting the game through TexMod again (it did log it all the time).

TexMod itself and all the texture packages I use checked out fine upon scanning them directly (with more than one scanner...), and as far as I can read on the net, this problem has popped up with a number of other antivirus programs in the past until TexMod got verified as a false alarm in their cases.

So, I temporarily disabled my antivirus, ran the game through TexMod and re-activated the antivirus. It's not a perfect solution, but it works, at least. And provided you got your copy of TexMod from a reliable source, it should be safe to use this way.

Edit 2: Matters get easier when you can set up an antivirus scan exception for the executable files in question, i.e. TexMod and ME1/ME2.

Wow this is great! So do we have to wait for Me3 textures now, or can we salvage any of the ones posted here for use in ME3?

so whats the situation when it comes to porting jeanluc's party member textures and CDAMJC's anderson/kaidan/ashley/etc textures? glad im going to have to wait 2 weeks to play this after the uk release, might already have some nice improvements by then! shame to play the 3rd game with texmod and all its issues tho, but worth it i think.

Does ME2 get glitches like ME1 when using texmod? getting tired of random textures replacing the HUD to be quite honest. ME2 is generally more stable though, so heres hoping its not so problematic. Anyone know the situation with ME2 and texmod besides framerate loss and slow startup?

Hmm, I think I have noticed a few glitches in ME2.
- The improved default Shepard texture (I think it was this, or at least a part of it) popped up in the in-game menu (i.e. the menu in actual gameplay) after tabbing out of and back into the game. Tabbing out and in again fixed the issue, and it hasn't returned yet, despite more tabbing in/out.
- The same texture popped up on the computer screen at the end of "N7: Abandoned Research Station"
- Sometimes, part of the subtitle is written in white with a black background, as if you marked it with a mouse in a text program. It's completely random and rare, though, and I don't know if it's unrelated to the texture packages.

So no text issues? in mass effect 1 (although this may be caused by the post processing software lots of people use with the first one) after a while of gameplay all writing turns into white squares, completely unreadable. this includes journal, codex and dialogue choices. i never play with subtitles but im sure they're affected too. Again, tabbing out and back in sorts that out, along with random textures, normally faces, replacing the mini map, background in minigames, load screens and even occasionally replacing the damage indicator... obviously this fills the whole screen with a semi transparent texture making it hard to play. all these can be cured by tabbing in and out but they do have a depressing effect on the game. Hoping im not going to get issues like this in ME2 and 3, although thinking about it i do remember hearing at least some of the issues are the fault of the post processing, not texmod. Luckily me2 and 3 wont need that to look nice.

These issues have plagued TexMod since it was released. Alt+enter resolves them but they will come back. We tried running in logging mode but that has a memory leak so the game will crash within an hour or less. These issues appear in both versions whether or not post process effects are used, though they may increase the rate of these glitches if it has something to do with graphics RAM usage, but I'm not sure.
I have high hopes for and am keeping an eye on UMod.  It's like TexMod but still in development, currently it won't work properly with the MassEffect series but in the future if it does, I think it will be better since it's still in development and we can report issues which hopefully the programmers can address, unlike TexMod.

sounds good! much as id love to play mass effect 3 with any mods released in the next month or so, i think ill stick to vanilla for this first playthrough, id rather enjoy bioware's hard work alone and then see it with improvements in a year or so when i play it with another shep. How long has Umod been in development? sounds promising, have they said they're going to attempt mass effect compatibility?

I know there has been a ticket submitted to them about Mass Effect and Bink video which is in Mass Effect so hopefully they will get to it :)

My AMD-ATI configuration has seen a most dramatic FPS drop after this, especially when a few texture-updated characters are on the screen. Looks great though.. thanks anyway.

I sincerely hope the author of these amazing textures will do work on ME3. :) I got spoiled on these!
