I have a problem, some of the files are seen as rar not tpf. Texmod won't read these files.

How do I fix this problem?

you need to download winrar to extract the files from .rar archievs.

I'm probably the clueless one here, but can't seem to find HD textures for ME1? Is it just the select 3 or 4 available?

Cheers for that link @CDAMJC - great addition to the few ME1 mods that Jean-Luc has given us :)

Thanks, would to see Tali's face like non tinted glass on her helmet. And if you could change the face texture to how quarians look in the synthesis ending in Mass Effect 3. Would be cool!

Thought you wanted to create your own Texmod. =] (I'm teasing)

First question is whether such a mod is possible; it'll depend on what textures can be pulled via Texmod and whether can be applied. Is there a full frontal view of a Quarian face or only a side shot...I can't remember offhand.

Well, there is a side shot of a quarian in the synthesis ending and a full front view of Tali in a photo in the romantic scene between shepard and tali in mass effect 3. Well it is the texmod I want to create. ;)

Great work with the mods, been running them for a couple of days. Quick question though, is it normal for the FPS to drop from like 100+ to 15-25 in certain environments? (Including the bridge of the Normandy.) Game runs butter smooth without the mods though, but I just can't allow myself to play with those regular textures. :/

Specs are:
6-core processor at 3.8ghz
HD 6970
6 GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 64 bit.

TexMod does not work well with ATI cards for some reason.  That is why your FPS drops in the CIC on the normandy.

Even on NVIDIA there's a noticable drop on the CIC and when visiting the Illusive Man; no idea why.

Also, I think it's just about time for me to get off my lazy ass and start working on Mass Effect 1 and 3 eh?

Just downloaded the Miranda one to test it out and it's causing strange amounts of lag on the Normandy when I'm not even looking at her. I haven't changed the frame rate cap in ME 2, but on max settings ME 1 would run at 120 fps, and ME 1 runs worse than ME 2 I think. I'm getting 30-40 on certain parts of the Normandy when using the mod.

Also, in case I find a way to fix this  issue, is there a way to download all the textures at once?

Also, I'm pretty sure it doesn't take 15 minutes to load just because of the higher resolutions. I have 2GB of VRAM, but transferring the maximum of 2GB from my SSD to my VRAM would take a hell of a lot shorter than that.

I think the 15 minutes is the something to do with the game seeting aside enough RAM, I have run task manager and watched Masseffect2.exe.  The game window remains inactive until the RAM usage stops inflating, then the game starts. Also I notice it seems to take longer to load on ATI cards, but its all TexMod nothing to do with specs really, and it just doesn't play nice with ATI.

On a slight side note, Umod is back in development and now works for MassEffect and I'm assuming MassEffect2, unfortunately I noticed very poor performance 1-5 second stutters when loading textures every couple of minutes, unacceptable to me at the moment. However I think it will get better, and as a plus was that there were no interface or menu glitches from misloaded textures that you find with TexMod and Umod has the ability to intercept textures as the are loaded so it can potentially be much more resource friendly than TexMod which loads all textures in the tpf list at once. So I think they are on the right track and that its definitely something to keep an eye on.

Any idea why it would take so long just to set aside memmory?

Probably because TexMod itself, which is beta, is slow? But I'm not sure exactly.  That's why I mention UMod, it loads much faster, just really poor fps at the moment.

Also, lol that it makes ME take a whole 3GB to run in task manager. What the hell? Lol, the file itself is only 500mb and I'm pretty sure ME doesn't need to take nearly that much just to run either, even if texmod insists on loading every single one of its textures onto memory before even loading a save.

I've been looking over some of the textures in ME2, and some of them are used in ME3, so they'd pretty much just need the Texmod texture code to correspond with the specific texture (eg. 0xD1A5907F|MASSEFFECT3.EXE_0xD1A5907F.dds). That one was random.

For example, Matriarch Aethyta in ME2 has the same uniform as Samara's daughters at the monastery in ME3, minus the color of the textures. There is an HD version of the uniform, but it must be matched to the ME2 code in order to work properly.

There seems to be a lot of uniforms on Illium for the Asari characters which are the same as the ones on the Citadel's hospital in ME3 as well as the colonists in ME1, except for a color swap. Texture is the same though.

Still a couple glitches to iron out (mainly that damned seam on her neck) and I need to update her "visible" face to be more in line with the canon, but progress is progress and progress feels damn good.

A few hours work and we've got our first official ME3 release (well, from me anyway).

Posted Image

Download Tali's Default Outfit (4096) here.

As the link says, that mod is ONLY for Tali's default outfit. I'm releasing each outfit separately this time to reduce loading times and file size as much as possible.

Coming soon:

1) Making Ashley look like her old self (ME1/ME2 style)

Posted Image

2) Finish porting over ME2 mods to ME3 (Legion will be next)

Posted Image

It's good to be back.

Great work JL, very much in keeping with your quality stuff for ME2.

And it's damn good to have you back :)
