After a recent hard drive failure, I find myself having to reinstall of my BioWare games (Mass effect 1 and 2 and Dragon Age). Is it better to copy all of the game files over from a backup on an external hard drive, or just do a clean install from the CDs?
(I posted this question in the forums for all 3 games because I didn't know where it would be better to ask)

I'm not sure copying the files over like that would work as a proper installment. I'd always install the usual way from the regular CDs/DVDs to minimize the risk of any future computer hickup.

What codes are you talking about, lqdxoni? Did you proceed with the new installation including patches etc in the same order as the previous installation? Try reinstalling the lot again if you continue having problems. Delete all files of the old installation (check if you need to do so manually for some) and reboot first.
