Mordin all the way.

Thane would never make it on Broadway.

I really love Mordin and Thane, and I love the mess out of Mass Effect, but I genuinely think that John Marston is a superior character. Thane and Mordin have also the immediate disadvantage of being 'henchmen' instead of the main character, and as such, are not half as developed

I guess a DLC doesn't count, otherwise Liara in LotSB would have been the obvious choice.

Yeah, I would still be happy if Marston did win. He's such a cool character.

Regardless, the fact that Thane and Mordin made it in is enough for me. They don't have to win, but they were chosen and nominated nonetheless.

Lol. I loved Mordin always funny and always like a Hamster on coffee.

Mass Effect 2, definitely has the best story out of all those candidates, in my opinion. ;D

There is actually a character called DeathSpank?

Mordin is my favorite among the new characters. His dialogues are superior.

So yeah, I'm rooting for Mordin (even though I haven't played the other two games).

Liara beats Thane, yes. But I'd still pick Mordin. I guess I would even choose him over Garrus whom I love to bits. Because I have to admit Mordin is the less clichéd of all the characters.

Where is Commander Shepard?

And Tychus Findlay?

Ah, well, Mordin it is.

Well Mordin should certainly win. The other choices don't really make much sense. But hey it is IGN. They are like Fox News for games.

Mordin. He's actually got a conflict in his character.

Thane's sophistry didn't impress me much.

Mordin is definitly understandable, but Thane? :s

Hes cool and very interesting and his voiceactor was one of the best i have ever heard. Alone the line with the Omega 4 Relay in the trailer stood out among all the others.

But as for an Characternominee... i think Jack deserved it way more. Sure, shes not everyones Cup of tea, and thus not such an "diplomatic" choice as Thane on which more people could agree on but she is imo definitly more interesting and more controversly discussed, what is -again imo- a strong sign of good characterization.

I also thoguht Samara was quite good. I will admit shes appears a bit to distant for an Characternominee, but i admired her determination to get such an hard task as she set herself up to, done.

I may get shunned for it, but i honestly dont think ME 2 has a great Story.
Dont get me wrong, the Characters and there individual Storys are exellent and i dont even want to start to praise how damned good the orchestration of the game was, cause that would go on for pages.

But the overspanning storyark was in my opinion totally:

Collectors bad, work with Reapers-> gotta stop them. Thats it.
And u find all that out in the first Mission were u meet Tali again. No sudden Story twist or anything but straightforward. Gather your Teammates and get the Job done.

Bioware was able to gloss over that fact with the Characters etc, what alone speaks Volumes for them and totally justifies the nomination of Mordin, but the story itself (and the gameplay) wasnt that good. ^_^

I know, kinda Off-topic, sorry. ^_^ Lets discuss this in the comments Chris or not. :D

No offense to any Thane-lovers but I'm very surprised he got nominated. Nothing about his character was really that interesting to me, sure everyone loves the sneaky spy but other than that he just seemed like a Carth clone  (scratch that, he was even more Carth than Carth was!). Why amazing characters like Jack + Miranda + Samara go un-noticed while Thane gets nominated is a mystery. Oh wait, no it's not :?.

Was he a decent character interesting enough to be in a game like ME2? Definitely. Was he interesting enough to warrant a character of the year nomination. Definitely not.

Guys, guys, it's simple.

If they allowed Garrus to participate, they wouldn't call it a 'competition', since there would be none.

I couldn't have phrased it any better! But I love Thane and Mordin too, so glad they have been nominated for best characters! :)

As much as I love Mordin, I'd give the award to John Marston. He had waaaay more dialogue to flesh his character out, and had a fantastic (and/or rage-inducing) ending.

Go Mordin! I like Thane but he lacks that quirky charm.

I'd put thane on my worst characters list before best. Yeah, yeah remorseful assassin never seen that before add in a annoying flashback habit due to perfect memory and he isn't even interesting to talk to. But Mordin kicks ass.

I think that the right phrase is 'Mordin incinerates ass'
