So Avenline is going to continue to wear her leather apron even though she's a heavy fighter? No sensible armor even for Aveline?
NO! The devs have already confirmed that she will change appearance.
No, they've confirmed that she won't stay in the same armor that we meet her in, this fight is from later in the game, when she is, presumably, wearing her permanent armor.

Or simply they are just constructed screenshots and not related to a specific time in the game.leonia42 wrote...
Well, we don't know exactly how long afterwards the new screenshots were taken. It might be just as they have entereed Kirkwall for the first time or something.
Plus it definitely isn't a different armour from the armour in the beginning since well they are identical looking. So in those screenshots she is still wearing her beginning outfit.

yeah look at this enlarged screen....same armor..obviously cloth
No armor and cloth armor? What the heck is wrong with these people? Thanks for clearing that up, crimzontearz! It's not bad modeling/texturing (which is a relief), it's just...Kirkwall. Good Lord. I miss Ferelden already.

Don't NO! without all the facts. They have NOT confirmed that she will be wearing armor, they have only acknowledged that she will change wardrobe.

The Dev said no.
In no part of his statement did he talk about armor

SPOILER ALERT
In the preview in this month's PC Zone, it says that Aveline joins Kirkwall's army. So I'd expect her to change into the same armour as they wear, or a version of it at least.

Cloth and quilt armour were both common among light infantry in the medieval and ancient worlds.

If that is Carver in the background, the fact that this Hawke appears to be a mage does nothing to assauge my fears that Hawke's class predetermines who lives and dies fleeing Lothering.
If who lives and who dies at Lothering is based on what class we choose for Hawke . . . well, to put it mildly, that would suck.

It looks like Hawke is saying: "Beam me up, Scotty!"
Or else: "I have the power!!!"

It is certainly hawke with the staff in both screenshots, maybe they tweaked the armor or its the new rock armor or mage strength boost for melee spell or something similar
David Gaider also stated in the Aveline thread that don't necessarily draw any plot conclusions from them

You couldn`t change the armours of your companions in Planescape torment either. Look how that turned ou. Voted the best rpg ever made all over the place.
How is this a logical argument? I doubt that the game won that title because the companions never changed their clothes.

That's still an illogical argument. No one is saying that the lack of armor/armor choices will inherently make DA2 a bad game, just that it makes a less good game.

I was just explaining Rawgrm's argument to Aermas since he comepletely misunderstood. And with the frequency at whitch Aermas brings up this topic, it's not unreasonable to believe that this is a big deal to him/her.BrotherWarth wrote...
