Hi, I want to talk about the ending of AC Brotherhood with anyone who has beaten the game.  I think ACB had one of the best endings to any game I've ever played.
Warning - DO NOT READ or LOOK at this thread if you do not want AC Brotherhood spoiled. This discussion will reveal in text and pictures, intimate and explicit details of the final sequences of ACB.

So to get right to the point,

What the hell happened? Desmond triggered the apple, Minerva spoke and  forcibly made Desmond stab Lucy. I personally think Lucy is more than she seems, she had to be sacrificed so that she can be reborn. Desmond will have to restore or recover her in AC3, and in turn, her restoration will facilitate maybe the rebirth of Minerva? The last thing Minerva speaks to Desmond is, "It is done, The way lies all before you. Only she remains to be found, awaken the sixth. Go, alone."

During the credits you hear two unfamiliar voices speaking, it is not anyone we have met in the AC series before, and they say
"****, he's gone into shock."
"Put him back in the machine, its the only way to fix this."
"But the animus did this to him."
"Am I the expert or not? Do it."

At which point Desmond responds "No."

At the end of the credits, we get this final scene,

What do you guys think? You can watch the ending on youtube, I can't wait to find out in the next AC game!

I liked the ending, left somethings unanswered so now im curious for AC3. I think the AC Comic might be leading to AC3, who knows.

I have no idea where the are going from here. Except that when minerva said "Awaken the sixth" she meant knowledge. While you platform to the apple, she talks about how she has six senses, and we only have 5.

Isn't Ezio supposed to have a kid if we can access hi memories?

Yeah with Christina though I hate it how they hide the final Christina mission in the loading screen, I mean after what I thought was the final Christina mission I thought that she had died and it was only by mere chance that I found when replaying one of the Christina missions that I found the final mission is unlocked by catching Christina in the loading screen.

Christina was hawt, her VA showed alot of emotion and their love story was a sad one. i cried more for Ezio then i did Morrigan. Ezio should of thrown Christina's husband off that bridge and blamed it on Templars.

I think the whole thing was viewed through Desmond's memory AS he was watching himself kill Lucy, hence the third person view(?).

It wasn't Minerva...it was Juno.

Minerva was the hologram from AC2, Juno from Brotherhood. What I found interesting was Desmond encountered Juno and not Ezio.

I just finished reading the 1st assassins creed comic, Tsar Alexander III is a Templar, and takes place about 20 or 30 years before the Russian Revolution.

Either he stabs Lucy to awaken his sixth sense, if that is what they are talking about I thought they where talking about another one of Desmonds ancestors.

Or it is because of a different reason.
What is beneath the line contains major spoilers about subject 16, don't watch if you want to do the puzzels youreself.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Desmond: Subject 16?
Subject 16: Yes, yes, Subject 17.
Desmond: You’re dead. I saw your blood.
Subject 16: No time. It is far later than you know. Too late to save them.
Desmond: Who?
Subject 16: She is not who you think she is. Everything you hope to become, everything you hold dear, it’s already gone.
Desmond: Explain. Please.
Subject 16: Eden. She... in Eden. Find Eve. The Key. Her DNA.
Desmond: Tell me!
Subject 16: I cannot... The sun... Your son... Too weak... Must replenish energy...
Desmond: Don’t go.
Subject 16: I am with you 'til the end. Find me in the darkness.

This might mean that Lucy is a Templar, or something else the gods don't like. Like 16 said, a descendant of Eve, one of the two that stole an artifect in the 'Truth' video from AC 2.

.. .- -- .- .-.. .. ...- . The title from this trophy translates to I AM ALIVE

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But anyway I think Lucy is alright, because she is seen holding the Apple before the credits roll.

Also the voices you hear in the credits, I think one of them is this William guy who has been sending Lucy and Shaun mails. He is probably one of the Assassins leaders.

I really don't know what to make of the two people talking during the credits and wouldn't even like to guess at that.

Originally though i did think that perhaps it was just a vision from the apple of desmond killing lucy. now i'm not so sure listening back to what juno says as its happening definitely makes it seem real and that Juno saw Lucy as an obstacle to the path, my current idea is that desmond has to have a child with a descendant of eve to fully awaken the sixth sense. this fits in well with being told by Juno and by subject 16 that its already too late, referring i think to the satellite launch and what Juno is trying to prevent is the extinction of man.

BSing right?

Anyway, the ending is mindblowing! Not a mind**** like AC2 but mindblowing still. I understand there is something Lucy isnt telling, but I have hard time thinking she is doubledoubleagent for Templars so I really doubt this is what Juno & Subject 16 means. It would be too predictable anyway.

Cant wait for AC3. Good lord I hope Ubisoft wont screw this plot up! They've had a way too good start, so its getting rather delicate if this serie will be epitome of awesomeness or will it fall flat on its face.

I guess I'm a little late. This thread is the top hit from my Google search, and I just finished the game. So let me drop my two cents and see if we have enough to buy a hamburger...

First of all, the whole descendant of Eve. I hate to burst your bubble... but everyone in the game is a descendant of Eve by definition. My guess for the reason to the killing is a bit further down.

It seems to me that the two voices are a big clue to something. For one, they are both male. The only male "current date" characters are Desmond and Shaun (and the voices don't match either). Then they mention that "he" is in shock. At first, he is assumed to be Desmond, but there isn't any proof at first. Then they say to put him back in the Animus, and you awaken as Ezio, so it does seem they are talking about Desmond. It is possible that they are a rescue team of Assassins, but I think they are Abstergo (just from the way they say "***, He's gone into shock", rather then "He's in shock.", also the machine seems to be nearby to the voices). I think you never really escaped in AC2. I think you were in a virtual reality setting that made you think you escaped, because you were more likely to work harder for Lucy then for Abstergo.

Next, the 'Awaken the Sixth'. I took that to mean the Sixth Sense. Juno goes on a bunch about how we only have five senses from when they made us, but that when they realized that they were going to have to work through the humans, they tried to give us the sixth sense. Obviously that is the Eagle Vision, the sense of Knowledge (also the apple was the Apple of Knowledge). People have asked how Desmond and Ezio (and the other guy) were able to tell friend from foe, and what Eagle Vision was supposed to represent. I think that is the Sixth Sense. Awaken the Sixth would mean that there is more to Eagle Vision that how we are using it ("the blue shimmer"). Also, this is why I don't think Lucy was a Templar Agent, the Eagle Vision would have outted her.

So why did he have to kill Lucy? What if she didn't really exist? Apply the Wizard's First Rule and see that if he is in a nest Virtual Reality, then he is willing to believe that lie in order to be with Lucy. So by forcing him to kill her, then they are forcing him to reject this reality (since denial will be a reaction to the grief).

I hope they actually have an explanation to this and aren't just playing it by ear. The Smoke Monster from LOST was supposed to have a fixed explanation when they first introduced it, and later we find out that the director was just making it up as he went along, which made for a poor wrap up. I think the difference is if they already have an ending in mind, they can work towards that ending, but if they want to milk the franchise for as much as they can, they will make it up as they go along, and plot holes will start gaping before long.

I think the reason for Lucy's death might be that she is not suitable to carry on the Assassin line. Maybe there is another Assassin girl out there who is destined to have a child with Desmond.
Or it could even be a Templar girl. Remember Altaïr and Maria? Assassin and Templar. And Juno says: "You, birthed from our loins and the loins of our enemies."
Therefore a true Assassin might be a child of a man Assassin and a woman Templar...or at least The Prophet should be...

IMO, there is a fine line between a good mystery and categorized nonsense. I understand the premise and a decent amount of the gritty inferences that are most probable, but the ending in this game was a lot or jargon to me. I liked it, but it is definitely time for some more clarity storywise.

That being said, it is a pretty epic scenario unfolding. Remember, we don't know much about what happened to Altair after he acquired a Piece of Eden in his own right. Sure, it unlocked the location to all of them, but what became of him? What did he do? What ripples did he influence?

The Templar conspiracy is deep and its roots are in the fabric of basically our entire history. Are the Templars actually doing the greater good, and we are unaware of it the entire time, mere puppets acting in ignorance and benefiting the rulers who once controlled everybody and everything?

Revelations is said to answer all the questions...and then some.

Yeah, it's been "confirmed" that he picks up his lady at some point during Revelations.

In case you were unable to figure this out, use of the Animus screws with your head. Like it did to 16.

Desmond becomes unable to differentiate himself from Ezio and begins to experience hallucinations. They think the Animus can fix him up again.

Desmond stabs Lucy not because she was evil or a traitor, but because she was not the intended "bride" for Desmond.

totally worked it out..... due to desmonds attempts to escape from estergo ( or what ever its called ) they have created a new animus experience for him... one where he has escaped. think inception, an animus inside an animus..... that way he can unlock the things they need him to, and he feels safe.... etc.

the voices in the credits are obviously estergo agents in " the real world" revelations, he will wake up, find out he hasnt killed the ****, and set about destroying templars.... got to be .

If that's what the case is, I'm gonna be pretty ticked. The Dream within a dream thing was cool the first few times you saw it...but it doesn't work anymore.

anyone see a link between lucy and cristina, seems desmond and ezio both had to go through the same thing in order to reach their destiny, maybe thats why they put those pointless cristina missions in ac2 brotherhood.

I liked the Cristina missions. :]
I would have liked them better in AC2 but they still worked. Pretty tragic at the end though.
