FIX for Laggy Choppy Low fps Jittery lag Stutter FIX!

what the title is, i recently got back into playing Jade Empire and as
i booted it up i noticed my game was stuttering as if it had a low fps
and after a day of google and other things no one had a fix except for
some people who have the steam version of the game, they thought it was
steams fault when in reality the simple fix was
restart your computer.....
no
joke....just restart your computer and play the game, i dont know
enough about computers to know why restarting fixes it maybe it has
something to do with your temp files or your cache needing to be reset
but restarting my computer fixed my problem.
no need for
compatability modes or running as an admin or anything, just restart
your computer, its healthy to do it every so often apparently,
i
still get the weird tenticle monster shadow bug, that makes your shadow
have a bunch of cloth flailing around that isnt on your character, i
find this bug hilarious in an asian styled game so i dont mind it one
bit.

Uh...the tentacles aren't necessarily a bug. Are you closed fist? That's where the tentacle shadow comes from.

yea im closed fist, however the tenticles dont stay all the time and are only there when im standing still, thats why i thought it was a bug, if its not one then spiffy

I also had a low frame-rate bug with the Steam version of JE. I restarted many times and had the problem still. My solution was a reinstall. I think the problem is, at least partially triggered or related to adjusting the game settings through the "Launch Jade Empire Configuration" menu.
I successfully adjusted my settings from the in-game menu without any frame-rate bugs and have had no problems since.

Also install or reinstall the latest AGEIA PhysX software. That cleared up my 4 FPS jagging and jerking gameplay.

I'm having this issue only in the old tein's landing area, but this did not happen my first time through the game (this is my seccond), and as far as I know nothing's changed on my pc.
dell laptop
intel duo core 2.0ghz
win xp sp3
2 gb ram
ati radeon mobility x1400 (no further upgrades avaialble)
using dowloaded version of game from direct2drive.
if reinatall is indicated where are the saves so I don't lose my progress? (or does it ask about that?)

They are in Jade Empire's directory in a folder called "save".
