Is it possible to ADD plot triggers to save files?

Example:
My Cousland has defeated the Hurlock General at the Alienage, and now is going to the Palace District. Is it possible to add in this save that Alistair sacrificed himself, even though it technically did not happen yet?

My problem is this: it switches to the second group holding the line.  But as soon as I go to talk to the messenger, the game crashes. Same with a few of my other save files on the party select screen (at camp).
