Please excuse a newbie if I have posted this in the wrong place., I made a comment on the Vault but thought I should also make a post here. I played through Serene, by Tsongo, and have to say it was great. I know it's been out for a while but if you haven't tried it yet I highly recomend it. It had a good story with good NPCs and a novel setting. Another plus was the scope of this Mod, I thought I was playing the OC again, except with a better story and more challenging combat. There were a couple of bugs, one was a "hic up",( my term), moving in a couple areas but if you just continue to travel in the direction you were going it will clear up. Also when I tried to play an Aasimar I got a facial distortion during dialog scenes,( Tsongo commented that he had never received that complaint before and might just be a problem w/ my game/download). And lastly many of the lengthy dialog scenes are triggered just before combat, which were wearing down some of my "quick" buffs. But  the bugs were minor compared to the over all gameplay of this well made Mod.

*****SPOILER*****
Another good aspect of Serene is after you kill the bad guy,you don't just get a movie/dialog screen you get to go back to some of the areas you passed through during the game and speak w/ many of the NPCs you made contact with.

The scope was definitely huge. Did you ever kill the golem at the wizard's tower near the beginning, or just run like hell? I took the latter as I never could hurt it.

It's been a looong while since I played it, so maybe I'm mistaken, but, don't you need adamantine weapons to hurt it?

Maybe. I never tried. I played a wizard, as is my custom, and the companion (can't remember her name right now) was a monk and didn't have any adamantine gloves/fingernails to hurt it with. Adamantine sounds about right. Sort of hard on a monk/wizard duo. Good thing we were swift of foot and had some haste potions handy!

Serene was well done. It's a good thing I like to blow stuff up, because man did I throw alot of fireballs through the course of adventuring. Some of those dungeons were huge and crawling with beasties.

My favorite was the huge room full of about 50 zombies and such. The fire marshall would have had a fit if he saw what we did in there!

Oh, yeah, my other favorite was Jack. "Who wants some then!" classic.

I played a Sorcerer, and I kinda remember to find some adamantine weapon just before the golem.

But maybe I'm thinking about another module.

Edit: Wait, yes, I was mistaken. Now I remember the golem (outside the tower, right?), but I don't remember if I managed to kill it.

Yep, that's the one, outside the tower.

I had exported a character who had an adamantine greataxe in his inventory, but I think Arkalezth was right about picking up an adamantine weapon in the Mod proir to meeting the Golem. Since I already had one I didn't pay attention to where I got it or what type  weapon it was. There were a lot of large mob fights in the game like the zombie one,so I am replaying it now as a more melee orientated character,( an Aasimar Paladin). I figured out that the birthmark/tattoo on the Aasimar face was causing the weird distortion. I made my Aasimar w/out the face marks and everything is working ok so far.

I think a melee character may do a little better than the spellcasting class.

I first went through as a Druid w/ 1 lvl Barb and I did pretty good unitl the last few fights, I could barely touch those guys. I even had to lower the difficulty level for the last fight.

*****SPOILER*****

The last fight, the bad guy dropped some sort of area effect spell, I think it was an anti magic field because it stripped my group of all it's buffs. Then he drops the rogue in 1 round! 2 to3 rounds later my guy goes down w/ out so much as a scratch on the bad guy.Brutal. On a lower dif. setting he doesn't use the spell but he still took out Jack really quick and nearly had me too, but Serene was kicking his butt while he was concentrating on me. So I hope using a better melee guy will make a difference and I will not need to lower the difficulty.Sorry for the long story but it may help you in choosing a Cha type if you play it.

******More spoilers!***********

I played through as a wizard, so the huge castle where I couldn't cast any spells was insanely tedious. I had to sit in the back throwing rocks while Jack and Serene took care of buisness.

The final fight was really tough. I tred to cast shadow simalcrum which makes an exact duplicate of the target. This usually is plenty to finish off anything, but the boss landed some punches and distrupted my concentration. Next thing I knew, I was dead. Jack soon followed. Good thing serene is a card-carrying ass-kicker or I would have been toast. She finished him off is good order.

There aren't many mods that offer the combat challenege that serene offered. I really enjoyed some of the major fights. Some of the longer dungeons really took the edge off the fun. Fortunately I love blowing stuff up, so it wasn't too bad.

A druid! You played it as a druid? Wow! That must have been tough!

I admit, I cheated by bumping up my STR and CON to 16 ea., that seemed to make  the Druid better in melee and  having 1 lvl Barb allowed me to use better weapons and to use Rage which really can make a difference when it stacks w/ worn items that boost STR and CON. I had never played a Druid and thought the outdoor atmosphere of the Mod was a perfect time to try it.

I tried playing a druid in the module "Dragonglade". I had my ass handed to me so many times, I thought it had a quick release switch! Admittedly it was the first time playing a druid and much of the tactics are probably unkown to me.

Other than the end boss, what was the hardest fight for you?

Typically Druids are among the strongest low-level characters...

Their AB is a bit lacking to reliably hit high-AC targets, but most enemies in most modules have lowish AC. And they got spells to try another approach if they can't hit the enemy.

Maybe the module I played a druid on was just particularly hard. What are some techniques you used to make your druid more viable in combat. I couldn't seem to do anything.

Dino companion, Elephant's Hide, Flame Weapon...

You can reach a pretty high level in Serene, Druids aren't that powerful then, but you can have the 3 things I mentioned with only 5 levels, and they're overpowered abilities early on.

BTW, this should have a spoiler alert in the title.

Well now that makes me want to go back and play as a druid some more. Maybe I'll redo sheep and stone as a druid.
