Zevran, the elf you cant trust him can you? I got that like so far into the game that it really made me wonder.
Ok he has just been in camp for... well months and you still dont trust him?

Yeah, that one wasn't a good comment either. Actually, that whole conversation is made of fail.

Does he have anything to say about Oghren?

I know he has nothing to say about Shale though.

Yes he does.

He jokes about his drinking habits and how Oghren drove of Morrigan with a string of expletives he didn't even know existed.

The only companions he doesn't talk about are Shale and Wynne.

That's probably because Shale is a DLC and Wynne he actually likes.

As much as I love Alistair, the gossip convo tends to make me cringe. And his gossip about Oghren is mainly about Oghren's drinking.

Though there is a funny comment about Oghren scaring off Morrigan with a string of cursing.

Well, Wynne isn't running around trying to slaughter people or use blood magic. She's just a bit preachy.

@Addai67 Okay, I know what the problem is. I'm using the word princess. The book I read was basically taking old archetypes and updating them. I'll ask my sibs to return the book this week so I can see what the original archetype was. It may be the damsel, but I'm not positive. Also, the archetype system devides roles up based on sex. I'll apply a male archetype to a female if the description fits best. I think this might also have stirred up a bit of a confusion because the system is pretty precise.

Damsel?  LOL  Ok, I'll be interested to see what you come up with, though having read a lot of Gaider's comments on the character, I'm gonna bet he was not thinking of any such thing.  I glanced at the Wiki on Xander last night and can see some of the themes they discuss for him in Alistair, though.

I think Wynne reminds him of the mother he never had, at one point she does tell him she thinks her son would be like him... That's going to be a pretty sacred relationship for orphan Ali and he's not going to touch on it...

Then Wynne notices he might be perceiving her as a little too motherly and sets him right.

Poor Wynne mum to Ali, sex object to Zev... And they're both orphans... Hmmm

All the talk about princesses and damsels reminds me of the thread Xandurpein started a long time ago.

Edit:
Found it. The Oldest Fairy Tale in the World and Dragon Age
He also started Why Women love Alistair and Men marry Queen Anora.

Maria - Zev isn't so bad, it's Oghren's comments to Wynne that I find creepy. I honestly get the impression that Zev does it to rile her up. But if she agreed, he wouldn't object.

Oh no, I wasn't tyring to write what I believed Gaider's intentions were, I was simply giving my reading and then explaining why I read him that way. I could be completely wrong and I probably am. I've sat through quite a few critiques and was blown away by some of the readings people gave on my stories.

I also have a book on 21st century romance archtypes; it would be fun to see if we could find Alistair in there.

No, I agree, I think he's taking the ****** too but Wynne finds herself the brunt of all this young male attention and I think is slightly rattled... Wynne strikes me as a bit of a loner...

Zevran doesn't have much to do with Wynne until she keeps trying to convince him to feel guilty for the life he was sold into.

He does actually have a few things to say about some of the companions that aren't bad.  That's why I thought the purpose of the whole conversation was to point out the opposite opinion as the pc's.

My warden told him she thought Leliana was crazy, and he said, but there she was when we needed help and how could she have known that?  And the thing about how she looks so sad.  It sounds like he does like her.  He also says something about Sten showing that what the chantry taught him about Qunari was wrong.  It's been a long time since I've seen that dialogue with Oghren in my group, but I thought he pointed out something about his warrior abilities.  Not sure about that one though.  I've never said bad things about Zevran to him, so I don't know what his response would be.  But he does agree with my pc that he should start trying to trust him.

I'm not really trying to defend the conversation, because I also dislike the snarky gossipy comments.  But it did serve to help me to look at the companions in a slightly different way.

Is it wrong that I broke down howling with laughter every time Zevran talked about Wynne's magical bosom?

Well...Zev can turn on you when that Crow guy shows up can't he? He's not exactly one to exude trustworthiness.

Yeah he has to be at less than 26 approval.
Both Alistair and Morrigan leave at any approval rating if you dont give them what they want.

Nope, because it's freaking hysterical. You can tell he's doing it to get under her skin.

It's not just certain companions will leave if they don't get what they want, all of them have some sort of trigger that can just make them or leave, or in certain cases outright attack you.

I thought that was something rather interesting they put in.

gah, Zevran flirts for reasons other than trying to bed the companions.  His seduction of the warden is FAR different.  He asks an experienced bard turned chantry sister to knock boots -- yeh right -- someone who is actually trained to use seduction to get close to his marks knows the reaction he'd get to that..  He talks about wynne's magical bosom to deflect from her trying to pry into his past and become his mentor.

edit; there are more selected comments than the ones that are mentioned here, and Zevran actually has a swooping kiss of his own (though if you see it in the vanilla game you MUST reload or have the rest of his romance cut off because of a bug).

Tigress M, the romances actually all go along their own paths, and while they have similarities, they have their differences as well.

What you're talking about I don't actually consider a weakness. With all the relationships, i get a sense of them falling in love, and once they fall in love, the ramifications of that.

The final act of Alistair's can happen in several places depending on decisions you make. I think of Alistair's final act as happening on the roof of Fort Drakon if you haven't done the dark ritual. It may also happen post-landsmeet if you make him king.

When you read fanfics of any of the romance characters, there are as many scenarios of the relationships as their are authors. Not having everything spelled out does give people the freedom to fill in the blanks themselves.

I was in a bit of a rush and should have taken the time to explain what I meant a bit better, sorry.  I'm talking about the in camp dialogue, only -- not the story-centric ones.  In a nutshell, during my first playthrough, I loved that many times on returning to camp, someone would come up and initiate a dialogue (or a kiss/snuggle in the case of Alistair) and I remember feeling a little let down when it got to the point where those little cutscenes stopped.

I've often said it would be wonderful if there was a mod that had your LI swoop in for a kiss or tent time request once in awhile instead of those always having to come from you after the initial ones.

I Totally agree.  Touching of hands, a pat on the bum, a comment about their appearance etc etc that would have added so much to the sense of immersion and investment in our PCs.

You know, we'd probably get this cleared up if we had the princess archetype spelled out.

We'd be better off discussing Anima and Animus but I'll not join in on that:  grrr --Jung (spits) grrr Freud (spits twice) grr psychology

Lol, yeah I don't think the "The Z" would reject that at all.
