Hi Folks

Dragon Age II is going to be an awesome game. Those of us at BioWare who have been playing it know this and we try to communicate this to you fans here on the forums or to the presss or at events. However, I understand that no matter how much we say "DA II is awesome" some of you will still have doubts.

So what I am looking for is  what is the one thing you doubt or want more information about for Dragon Age II before we launch? I am putting together ideas of what we need to show to our community to (hopefully) make them better understand Dragon Age II and hopefully convince them that their fears are unwarranted.

So I would like you, the person with dounts, to explain your biggest doubt about Dragon Age II. Now, a couple of instructions:
  • Just ONE concern per person. Please no laundry list of issues.
  • We will have more videos, podcasts, screenshots, etc anyways, so asking for more isn't what I'm looking for. I'm looking for what the subject of those videos, podcasts, screenshots, etc should be.
  • Please explain why you are concerned (saying "I am worried DA II will suck" doesn't help). Saying "DA II will be too much like Mass Effect" also doesn't help (ME is a great game) but if there is a feature of Mass Effect you didn't like and are worried it will affect DA II, THAT is what I want to hear.
  • No arguements between people please. If someone doesn't like "A" and you do, thats fine.
  • If you aren't worried about DA II, don't post. This is only to help me collect ideas for feedback between now and launch. Go post elsewhere and have fun.
  • Posting "I agree with ThatGuy" is fine if ThatGuy has already posted what you are concenred about.
Now, the usual codicil. Just because you express a concern here that DOES NOT mean I will address it between now and launch. If 100 peopel say "I want more info on X" then maybe. If one person says "I am worried there isn't enough pudding in the game" then maybe not.

I'm only leaving this open over the weekend just to get some ideas and it'll be closed on Monday.

So, if you have a worries or concern, please let me know. As I said, Dragon Age II is going to be an awesome game, and we're going to prove it to you.

Please don't take this the wrong way, especially Chris starting this thread was ace of you, but I wonder how much you guys are actually paying attention to the input here or if this is just a clever ploy to keep us "nerd-ragers" sedate for a bit. Because from the looks of it, it seems like you guys knew that most of the changes you made wouldn't exactly go over well and that's why you're trying to get them out of the way first.

This ^^

Well, I just read the whole thread, so I think that would fall into the realm of paying attention.

Chris Priestly here is my greatest concern.

Dragon Age was 5 years or so of development and Dragon Age 2 is not even 3 years as far as I know. Why should the fans believe you have given this product the time it deserves to be a full fledged adventure?

It seems you are catering to those people that did not finish Dragon Age: Origins long quest line, well that's not my fault so why should I be punished for it.

I just don't see how you can produce the same amount of quality in half the time. The only logical conclusion I can gather is that the technology Bioware has developed has allowed them the following

1.) Much more faster level creation. (This was shown in the Mass Effect 2 E3 press demo)
2.) Better systems that enable faster implementation of things in game. Like having a programmer rig whatever an artist creates in faster time.
3.) Much better engine than Dragon Age: Origins. Although I have no clue what engine Dragon Age 2 uses, it seems like an obvious thing. As developers get more experienced they are able to create more efficient worlds.

With that said and done I predict this game will be shorter than Dragon Age 2, I'd be satisfied if it was at least half as long as Dragon Age: Origins, and will be dissapointed if it's only like 15 hours or so.

DA 2 uses the same engine.

Which is why we can make the game faster. When Origins was started we had no engine at all, hence the long dev cycle.
