In ME2, I was really frustrated that I could only go so far with the relationships with some of the crew without crossing that romance line.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is that I would like to be able to have relationships with people (friendly ones, not just romantic) and not be limited to...say... 3 or 4 conversations and then getting the same line over and over when there's nothing left to say unless I'm making a play for them.
Other than that, I really am looking forward to DA2. I think the changes that are being made sound great. I can't wait to actually see some official gameplay.

With the time skip, I just don't want to see the game become a Hawke highlights reel, where you jump from important event to important event without seeing how things got that way.
DAO seems like a good benchmark to me for how much content there should be, so I guess I'd just like some reassurance that the framed narrative business won't compromise the depth of the story and the characters.

My second playthrough of DAO was six months after my first playthrough, and I was amazed at the "deja vu" effect when I saw an area for the second time. Even the simple hall passages in a few of the caves are memorable ( for example, the long decending passage prior to the spider queen lair).

My only concern is that the new combat system may lose what was great about Origin's. DAO's combat didn't really need to be faster and I'm worried it's going to lose some of its depth.
My second biggest concern aside from the length is this too. Looking at some gameplay videos here annd here, you can tell the combat is turning in to some Heavenly Sword/Dynasty Warriors hack and slash bull****.

OK bottom line I am worried it has turned into a medieval fantasy version of ME2. We now have a voiced protagonist, static clothing and a dialog wheel so I'm worried what else will be applied from that franchise. I know there is just as many for it as against but I would love to see the games differ and not get streamlined with just different names and theme. Also the voiced protagonist thing makes me wonder about less DLC.

My main concern is the companion development. What made DA:O one of the best games I have played was the companions. And this is what I am worried about the most. Since the game is shorter I hope they are not rushed and I will be able to connect with them as much as I did in DA:O.
This!

But if I -have- to choose one above all the others, then it is the rigid class system, and how it enforces the use of specific weapons. I thought that DA was already overly restrictive and at the same time limited with only three classes.
I want warriors dual-wielding and with missile-weapons, rogues with a single weapon, or sword and buckler, mages with two daggers, etc, etc.
Even better, I want the ability to make a cross-class character, a mage-rogue or warrior-mage.
If this means getting rid of the new combat animations, so much the better, as they look horrible. The very idea of hitting five opponents with the same attack makes me cringe, as does the silly flips and rolls and sky-high leaps we have seen.

Don't get me wrong, I also like playing gameplay with some action and awesomeness, but there's a reason I bought DAO, and it's because it was different from those other games- it made me think and plan, and that made the battles infinitely more fun and interesting.

The thing is, I find it incredibly alienating not to be able to talk to companions when we're out doing stuff, or if a moment has just occured that in roleplay would make me want to talk to a particular companion. Especially when they tell me to go work, not chat. It feels like the bird. I think that's why I never felt very close to the companions in Awakening or in the DLC.
I already posted my concern so I can't list anything else, but I totally agree with this.
yes excellent point and really well explained - exactly how I felt.
Very well put!

My biggest concern is that DA2 won't be very long. I enjoy long games that allow the player to connect with characters and story but I'm worried that the time skip will be used to make the game shorter and too fast paced. Dragon age was great because the characters were so well crafted and you were given the oppurtunity to get to know them slowly and at your Warden's pace. I just don't want the game to be short and rushed.
I second this.
