What ONE thing has you worried about Dragon Age II?

I'm worried that DA2 will be like any other game out there. I'm worried it'll be generic and interchangeable.
It's funny that people at BW are going on and on about how they wanted DA to have a more ownable style, and while I know that was mostly visual, it seems ironic that the game SEEMS to be being really heavily streamlined.
I don't have a problem with fast combat, hot rod samurai action, bold shiney visuals, or cinematic dialouge. Really, I don't. But I think that it's a shame that all games out there are sort of the same game with different skins, and whatever bad can be said about DA:O, it was definitely not the same game with a different skin. It was unique. The fact that it was slow and clunky and whatnot wasn't GOOD, but it WAS different.
I WANT DA2 to evolve and improve on those flaws in DA:O ... but I don't want it to evolve in a direction that makes it more like every other game out there. Tactical combat, party-based combat, pause and play, they're what made DA:O different, even if it was only different in that they were old-fashioned. I get that DA needs to modernize, but I want to see it modernize in a way that looks like the more intuitive evolution of party based CRPG play, not modernizing to be more like every game out there.
Did that make sense?
My runner up was that I'm actually worried DA2 won't have same sex romances. It would be such a step back.

My main concern is the companion development. What made DA:O one of the best games I have played was the companions. And this is what I am worried about the most. Since the game is shorter I hope they are not rushed and I will be able to connect with them as much as I did in DA:O.
This!
Ditto that...

Plainly put, it takes a lot of time to get the voice acting for this kind of game (myriad conversation threads, directions, depths, and participants) completed. Considering ineveitable situations like rewrites and scheduling conflicts and storage limitations and audio production, not to mention the plain old tedious and time intensive process of recording the dialogue and all the VA stuff that Bioware does better than anyone else in the industry, I'm just finding it hard to believe that in a development cycle that is so much shorter (18 months) than a typical development cycle (24 -30 months) that we will be getting the same depth and complexity from DA2's companions that we got out of the companions from DA:O.
I realize that the long development period from DA:O (and all the time it gave the writing staff to broaden and polish the lore) along with the use of familiar and experienced voice actors, gives this title a considerable head start. However, unless I'm mistaken, this go around will have even more companions than we had in DA:O and all that lore still had to be scripted and rescipted and refined.
There's no way to qualify or to dispell my concern until I play it, though. It could be that Bioware has managed a minor miracle and the companion dialogue will be even more robust than what we got in DA:O. I wouldn't be disappointed too badly if the dialogue was scaled back some, I know that the overall narrative will be outstanding. Stiil, it would sort of take a bit of the shine off the title if the dialogue is relatively, subpar (relative to DA:O).
Also, I read the Mike Laidlaw interview in Gamepro. No Chainmail Bikinis. Mr. Laidlaw, I am disappoint.

Maybe the 'obvious' aspect there isn't apparent to everyone, but I feel that limiting combat style choice within a class in this kind of way reduces the depth of the class, in that players won't really get to step beyond a linear path of progression and experiment. It does have the benefit of emphasizing class roles, but I don't believe that should come at the expense of being able to tool around with the class. Personally, that level of customization in the RPG genre is a huge factor in whether I buy the game or just rent it out on a console.
Not sure I said all that very well, but there you have it. Thanks for making the thread.

I'm kind of concerned about the dialogue system. Mostly about the way the tones work: is it just diplomatic/sarcastic/aggressive, arranged about the wheel in the same fashion every time? I know there are investigative and occasionally romantic options as well, and that's well and good (though I wonder whether questions will ever carry tones as well), but I'm kind of concerned that diplomatic will be the "nice guy" option at the top, aggressive will be the "bad-ass" option at the bottom, and that sarcastic will end up fulfilling a "neutral" role (even though sarcasm rarely constitutes a neutral attitude).
I like the idea of the tone indicators themselves, but I'm just worried that there will be too limited a number, and that they'll turn into default categories even for responses that aren't really appropriate. Basically, I'm worried that it'll be too much like the paragon/renegade system. I know there won't be any morality meter or anything, but I'm worried that, say, the "diplomatic" option will be in most situations, and will be diplomatic relative to the other dialogue options rather than being diplomatic in its own right (a paragon line in the ME series could still be rather hostile; I'm hoping that a line with a diplomatic indicator is never very hostile).
This is basically my main one as well. I found that in ME2 there were only really 2 proper playthroughs i actually enjoyed - renegade and paragon (i saw neutral as largely pointless). DA:O set itself apart with its morally grey choices, massive amount of variables and deeper choices altogether and I really hope this is not lost.

paraphrase system
This, I hate having to guess my way through dialog. It works with Mass effect as it's more of a cinematic game, and to be hoenst, I dont really look at it as much of an RPG anymore so it's not that big of a deal.
In an RPG like Dragon age, having to try out all options to figure out exactly what Hawke will say is going to be a NIGHTMARE for me, I still shudder dreaming of mass effect days when I had to reload three times all convo's to learn which would suit me best to choose.
I really dont like it, and I hope some kind of alternative will be put in place, the icon isnt enough, I still dont know WHAT he will say.
I would suggest checking out "The Longest Journey: Dreamfall" to see an example of diffrenet paraphrase system.
It had paraphrases, but when you hovered your mouse over it, it added additional text to it.

Contrivances like this make it look as if the aim of the game is to make the player feel bad or teach some kind of life lesson about how things can be unfair...
I just want to kick back an enjoy the game...

I worry about the change to the dialogue system in DA2. As much as I like Mass Effect, the thing I like least about it is the way the interaction with companions is handled and the dearth of dialogue throughout the game. Movement to a ME style of companion interaction and dialogue is a depressing thought. But! I've stepped away from the edge and am resigned to waiting to see how it all plays out. Bioware hasn't made a bad game yet, and if DA:O isn't to be repeated, I guess I'll just never fall in love again. lol

I realize that a certain amount of linearity is required by virtue of this being a game. Mass Effect 2 forced some pretty nasty player character actions without giving the player a choice. I'm not talking about something like deciding who survives Virmire, but how it's impossible to play Mass Effect 2 without working for Cerberus - and not providing a good reason for it.
(From what I can remember, Dragon Age: Origins did a better job of this; at least with the Joining it was made clear that if we didn't, we would be murdered. Still, I'd rather avoid being put in that kind of situation at all...)

Being a heterosexual female, in RPGs I only ever play as a female...partly because I like carrying my gender into the game, but mostly because I like taking advantage of the male Bioware romance options as I feel it enhances my investment in the game.
DA:O's Zevran allowed me to do just that, while also experimenting with a male PC. I really enjoyed it, and liked that I wasn't forced into a certain sexual preference (romancing a lady). I was actually looking forward to playing ME2 with Thane as an M/M option, but alas... I hope I (and the LGTB game-playing community) don't get the same disappointment in DA2!

So far Hawke's failed at this. Combined with the new framed narrative and VO basicly makes me feel like I'm playing some one else's character and not my own, which means I don't care about him.
I preordered DAO, I won't pre-order this game. Hell, with the short turn-around cycle (DAA taught us all a lesson about that) and everything else that seems to be getting cut I probably won't even buy it until we get a GotY Edition or it comes down in price, if at all.

I hope that Hawke will have a huge pool of armor pieces to choose from so that the customization corners that have been cut with followers are replaced by an expanded armor selection for the main character.
