I hope Bioware is careful in their marketing of this game as to not reveal too much information.

You may wish to ignore my comments here, though; the general design direction (art, etc.) has so turned me off that I'm 99% convinced DA2 will strip out all the stylistic/story/character/gameplay elements that drew me into DA:O, and I don't know what you could show me that would make me interested again. I'm pleased Bioware has realized a portion of DA:O's audience is displeased with what they've been shown so far, though.

1) the new darkspawn look.
the darkspawn don't look like the monsters they were in the first game, now they look something in between a bad joke and the walking dead.
right now they are as scary as a cute sweet puppy, I can't see these new daskpawn looks as darkspawn I really can't.
the original design was more scary then this new one.
2) the God child story.
for the ones that have chosen to save the wardens life with Morrigan's ritual, the story seems to have a lot of unanswered questions, like what's going to happen with the child? and what destiny has the child before it?
I would like some more info on this during DA2 and not the simple monster sidequest (find the God child, kill it, end of story)
the God child story has some great potential and it could open the possibilities for the third game seen from the old gods point of view.
I'm sorry if I have not made myself very clear on what I mean, I'm not english so mistakes happen when I writ.

That the development time of this game versus DAO will result in a lack of the richness of detail and immersion present in the original.
There are countless tidbits in DAO, from the various ways to bribe the Templar to get to the tower, to all the iterations of various party members bantering, to Leliana's song, to the codex itself, upon which hours could be spent just reading instead of playing.
I don't see how Bioware can possibly ducplicate this in the development time being spent on DAII. I can't even count how many times I've played though DAO now but I'm STILL discovering new little tidbits I haven't found before. Coupled with mods the replayability appears to be virtually unlimited.
There it is.

My concerns about the PC gameplay have been addressed by others (Brockololly in particular) and my concerns about s/s romance options have also been voiced by many. So my chief concern, since others have addressed these two things, is Hawke's interaction with NPCs. I would've enjoyed Awakening a great deal more if it hadn't been so very lonely. I'm worried that with a shorter game, a voiced protagonist, I'm not going to have time to feel attached to any of the characters or to give a flying flip about what I'm supposed to be doing. That there will be no depth there, I'll never feel like I am Hawke or am attached to Hawke or care about any of the people around him/her either.
^^ Pretty much this. Well, not really the PC thing since I play on the 360, but I suppose I am concerned on behalf of my PC-loving brethren. Everyone should have the best possible gaming experience regardless of platform.

As a warrior player, I'm a little bit concerned that playing as mage Hawke will have the most relevance to the story. Not only because the "poster boy" of DA2 is (blood) mage Hawke, but also because Hawke's background seems to be very mage-oriented.
We know that one of Hawke's ancestors is Parthalan, whose staff becomes a family heirloom, which Hawke can wield and fullfill the dream of freedom for all mages that Parthalan had ( going by the description of the Staff of Parthalan ). We also know that Hawke's dad and sister are apostate mages. And that Hawke is related to the Human Mage Warden ( Amell ) on her mother's side. And, storywise, the conflict between mages and the templars/chantry seems to be an important part.
Given all that, it would seem playing as mage Hawke would be the most logical or relevant to the story.
I hope that is not the case. I hope that if we choose to play as warrior or rogue Hawke, the story will feel just as relevant and meaningful to us, and that warrior or rogue Hawke will feel just as relevant and meaningful to the story.
In fact, I am hoping that Hawke's strong mage background will be referenced ( and affect ) Hawke and the story, even if Hawke is a warrior or rogue........

third person action same-sex games.
Seriously, wtf is with the fanbase here: Your biggest concern is the possible lack of copulating options with same sex companions?!
How about some tactical combat? C&C? Replayability? Less filler combat (I hope there is no Derp Roads again)?
This forum has more degenerates than RPGCodex ffs

if you don´t like something then make your criticism, but without insults. I personally don´t like some s/s people way of behaviour, but I don´t rush into forums insulting them. As for DAO s/s romances was one indicator that the gaming society were taking steps forward. Unfortunately the lack in DAO2 can mean steps back. I can like or dislike, but we must respect the people.

My main concern is PC combat game-play.
I
liked the top-down/isometric view, pause-and-play, tactical party-based
combat of DAO. I don't like action-oriented, console-type combat. The
changes to DA2 combat are of great concern to me.
Yes, if something´s good and works, why changing it?
I share some folks worries like s/s romance going away, zealous differentiation of classes,

If I actually had concerns about those things, then they would definitely be a higher priority than romance options. But since I don't...

Sorry if I was misunderstood: when I said degenerates, I was really thinking about those thousand pages long Tali or Varric threads... I wasn't talkin about gay people.
My frustration actually stems from all this focus on what i believe is completely irrelevant for an RPG. I don't get it, if you want sex, watch porn. If you want interactive sex, find yourself a mate.
I believe Bioware is going in completely wrong direction with their games, all this "cinematic" experience ****. if I wanted cinematic, I'll watch a movie. I'm bothered also by dumbing down or "streamlining" etc.
That's why I'm frustrated by all these posts about things that have nothing to do with RPGs, just with having interactive ****** material
If anything, Bioware should implement STDs, so if you sleep with too many companions, one dies of syphilis
thanks for the banhammer btw

I'm worried that DA2 will resemble a linear movie with lots of fighting and loot runs tossed in to keep things 'interactive' and as such will become an action game/movie with very little replayability.
