My one concern about DA2 is that it's the first Bioware game since BG1 that I don't want to play... a sure sign of the approaching prophesied Mayan apocalypse if there ever was one. Doom! Dooooooooooom!  Thanks for asking though CP.

I'm a bit worried that the game will have intrusive bugs and we either won't have a toolset to fix them ourselves or you guys won't step up your patching practices to fix them for us.

I second this.  Awakenings still isn't patched correctly.....ala Silverite Mine!

I agree with DraCZeQQ.
The only thing I'm a little worried about is the toolset. I'm a big fan off the hairstyle-mods for DAO. It wont be the biggest loss in the world if there were no toolset, just a big bonus is there will be one.

My only concern has been the clothing. I do think it's great on one hand that everyone gets to be unique, but on the other hand I find myself at a loss. In DAO, when I went into cities I changed my characters into clothes (Chantry robes, commoner and noble clothes), while they kept their armor in wilder zones. I'd love to see a distinct look for occasions, if I can't change my companions' clothing for the occasion myself. I love Aveline and Isabela's looks as casual, but I wouldn't want them in a Landsmeet-type (formal) affair dressed like that. I know there are hints about people changing their clothes, but nothing feels solid about that, and this is a ten-year span.

I've just always taken so much interest in coordinating my companions' armor sets and changing them for the situation (even at the expense of losing good stats), that I don't like the idea of having that taken away from me. Since this does time-jump, I'm hoping (perhaps too much) for something like Final Fantasy Tactics, where Ramza's clothing (base sprite model) changed during the different chapters. Clothing has always been one form of immersion. Alright, my concern is written, I won't ramble for too long on it.

Dragon Age 2 is looking like another awesome game from bioware. So far it seems it will greatly improve on the solid base set by DAO. My only concern is one of the game's inspirations. ALthough I'm a big Samurai film and book fan, I'm a bit concerned about "samurai style" swordplay and weapon handling/physics. Already we've seen a little glimpse of it in some of the videos (mage running with the staff samurai style comes to mind). Hope the combat has not "samurized".

I am a bit worried about the dialog system. I think the concept of dialog wheel is a good system for making the dialogs more fluid but the implementation in ME and ME2 it's a bit annoying for two reasons:

1) Usually the paraphrase doesn't match with the real dialog and most of the times my character said something a didn't want.

2) When you did more than one playthrough you usually want to skip some of the dialog but it's not a great idea to put the same button for skip and accept dialogs because accidentally can choose a dialog you didn't want when you are skipping the previous.(I am talking about the pc version of ME and ME2 because I only play on pc)

Thanks for listening to our worries.

More game system information, in a nutshell. Two examples as to what I mean:
Tooltips in DA:O didn't indicate something as basic as "how much damage", which made leveling guesswork.
Floating numbers as the only input in combat doesn't allow to properly gauge party perfomance, so a Combat Log would be most welcome.
(NOTE: Having to choose one of the many things that worries me is hard)

The only character I really bonded to was my rogue tank. Hard to develop but a joy to play. So I'm going to go ahead and fouth this concern.

My concern is that you are pursuing class differentiation too zealously, and i will be locked out of many ways i want to play. I fear i will now be restrticted to a role based solely on class and that i won't have the freedom to follow a certain theme with a character e.g. can i be a heavily armoured mage? Can i be a very tough (not agile) and strong archer? Can i have a mage that excels in close quarters combat? Must my mage use a staff?

Because hybrid classes make or break a game. Every developer can add a mage class, but it takes style to add a melee mage or a rogue tank. ;)

While I've been defending the dialogue wheel since it appeared, I *am* a bit worried about the dialogue system. I'm worried how "persuasion" will work.

In Dragon Age Origins, I liked that the player wasn't told whether they would succeed or fail before clicking the option. I also liked that sometimes there were worse consequences for failing than for selecting another option. I didn't like the option being labeled "Persuade," because it immedeately makes that the "right" answer for players trying to get that result, meaning the other options saying the same thing are obviously wrong.

In Mass Effect, there was a little of the same problem with the options being highlighed and labeled. I didn't like how most persuasion options were grayed-out if you couldn't succeed, because it made the whole choice between a selectable persuasion and normal options pretty obvious. "You want to get what you want or select one of those lame options over there?"

So my questions to the devs would be:
- Are there still "persuasion" options? (It sounds like it from the (hinted at) ability to alter companion views.)
- Are there still "persuasion skills" such as Coercion?
-- If so, how are they used? (Do they highlight/allow selection of persuasion options? Are they
              instant-win selections?)
-- If not, how are persuasions handled? (Are they hidden within the normal options, with a certain choice
being the "right" one, without explictly saying so?)

That's all. I'm technically worried about toolset support, but my DA2-related concerns lie in the conversation system and a few other things that I think have been mentioned...

One thing I am worried about?

The tactical camera. DA2 is supposed to be a party based game and considering that it will use a third person camera centered on the "active" charachter, I fear that I will have to fight against the camera to controll my party and the combat field in a efficient and rational way. Result? An easier and more superficial combat system that will force players to focus on their charachters and leave NPC to tactics.

Just how much like Mass Effect 2 the game is becoming, such as making the combat more flashy (2h warrior doing a jumping sword smash on the ground just doesn't look appealing), and I don't have a problem with that aside from making the moves look too over the top, but by god make it more responsive though. Also companion armor sticking with them like in ME2, I understand that it will progress and until we see more looks of the companions over the time then it'll still be a concern, but all I can compare it to is ME2 at the moment, so I feel rather disappointed to hear this. Then there is the possibly 30 hour story that ME2 has; my main hope from this is more side quests than ME2 atleast since most of those 30 hours were spent probing planets to improve everything, not fun at all!
(Sorry if this seems to be more than one thing, but I was just elaborating on the "ME2ifying of DA."

^This.
Are there still statistics based conversation options and non combat skills/abilities to level up?

That the connection to DAO will be ephemeral. I'm perfectly fine with closing the Warden's book, putting it on the shelf, and opening Hawkette's book... stories start, entertain, and end... but I would like to know that my Warden's life is going to have some kind of impact on DA2. I'll be ok with window dressing here and there, but I would really, really like to see it impact DA2 and I'm very much worried that even the window dressing is too much to hope for.

Honestly, I'm most worried about the cross-platform compatibility on DA:O saves. I know it was mentioned a couple times earlier as well as in Game Informer that it will be looked at, but it seems like such a secondary function that doesn't affect the story or the gameplay so that it might get nixed if push comes to shove. As a fan of both styles of console and PC combat (from DA:O, if it is indeed similar), I really would like to play both with the characters I've grown attached to.

For everything else inside the game, I have faith BioWare will deliver on. I just hope the non-essential stuff gets a fair share of loving too.

Sorry to make an example of you eyesofastorm, but for the rest of you reading this, this is EXACTLY the type of post I don't want to see.

Why not? Well, it doesn't offer any suggestion as to how we can make DA II look liek a game you do want to play.

Still, the rest of the comments have been great. Keep them coming.

You're right CP.  I probably just shouldn't have said anything... my bitterness got the best of me.  Thing is, I don't think there is anything you can "show" that will change my mind.  All of the things you targeted as weaknesses of DA:O were things I considered strengths.  If I have to answer the question honestly, I'd have to say the drastic departure from what I consider to be classic and important party-based tactical RPG elements concerns me.  I don't know how you would possibly show me that you haven't done all of the things you've said you've done, but that's what you'd have to do to make DAII look like a game I want to play.

The ONE thing that worries me the most about DA2 is that, just like ME2, the PC release is just a poor port from the console version, as far as controls are concerned.

ME1 has a good control scheme for the PC. Could have been a lot better but still, it is way better than ME2. I never really knew what a "port" meant in that sense. Not my language. And it was not until I went to vent about the lame control possibilities for the PC ME2 that I learned in those threads what it means.

What happened to the people that created Neverwinter Nights? In the age of wireless KB's and laser mouses, did they all stopped playing on the PC and moved to a limited controller like consoles'?

I am concerned that there won't be any good voices for the main character. I don't want to have to play a whole game hating the pc's voice, so I hope there will be more choices than in Origins. I played a rogue, and after she said "its a trap, a cunning trap" for the hundredth time, I was close to just turning off the sound altogether. In Origins character creator, there wasn't much information, only a few examples, about what the voices were really going to say, when you chose one.

I am worried about less options in role playing and choosing your own character and who they get to interact with, such as losing the s/s romance options. Role playing, for me, means having the flexibility to design my own character (versus playing a pre-defined one) as well as being able to play a role that the world and NPC's will also react to. Seeing as how Hawke is here to stay I am still hoping for some s/s romance (or at least recognition) options and that "our" Hawke will still be as close to a blank slate as possible.

Everything I heard so far has me really excited. All the issues I had with DA:O appears to have already been addressed. Which is great!

Its so trivial but I may as well say it. Im worried that my Mage Hawke is going to end up wearing a silly looking Mage Hat again. Can you confirm that the Mage Head Gear has been redesigned a bit for DA2?

At the present time my major concern regard the companion's cosmetic look.

For example, today aveline was announced and from the 2 ss and the artwork she looks like a warrior that wear a a shirt with leather apron and a pair of leather trouser and IMHO this apparence looks really sillly for a warrior .

Taking this character as example and adding it to the info that state that not all the companion will change their apparance during the game, my concern is that we will have characters stuck with attires not proper to their class.

1) Darker Fantasy. I mean it. More gloomy. IMO Dark Fantasy doesn't mean Fantasy with heavy metal music in trailers. Dark Fantasy just cant be Epic too. NWN was "darker" than DAO (both awesome games).

2) Magic. Magic in Dark Fantasy must be DARK and dangerous. Magic like in Book of Vile Darkness. Users must be kept in guarded towers cuz of some reason! That they can be corrupted is not enaught.

3) No magic items like Sword of Game Master +100 to all stats. IMO Sharp Sword +1 to dmg is enaught, or at least is good in mid game. Late game can be +3 but no more. Like in first Baldur's Gate game! Im more interested in story of a weapon or armor, or a shape of it (that can be reason why +3 for something).

4) Good relationships with team and sex with a girl only cuz i hurled a ton of gifts into their bags? I wont buy DA2 if its going to happen again! If i have good relationship with someone its cuz we have same goal for example. That must be like in books!

5) Why playing mage Im doomed to wear evening dress for the rest of game?! Why daggers looks like retarded swords?! Do you know what i mean?

Just don't burn me at the stake!

The 1) worries me the most.

I'm kind of concerned about the dialogue system. Mostly about the way the tones work: is it just diplomatic/sarcastic/aggressive, arranged about the wheel in the same fashion every time? I know there are investigative and occasionally romantic options as well, and that's well and good (though I wonder whether questions will ever carry tones as well), but I'm kind of concerned that diplomatic will be the "nice guy" option at the top, aggressive will be the "bad-ass" option at the bottom, and that sarcastic will end up fulfilling a "neutral" role (even though sarcasm rarely constitutes a neutral attitude).

I like the idea of the tone indicators themselves, but I'm just worried that there will be too limited a number, and that they'll turn into default categories even for responses that aren't really appropriate. Basically, I'm worried that it'll be too much like the paragon/renegade system. I know there won't be any morality meter or anything, but I'm worried that, say, the "diplomatic" option will be in most situations, and will be diplomatic relative to the other dialogue options rather than being diplomatic in its own right (a paragon line in the ME series could still be rather hostile; I'm hoping that a line with a diplomatic indicator is never very hostile).

My main concern is that in attempting to jump from the style of game we all loved in DA:O to what seems to be a completely new style and game, Bioware misses completely and we end up with a shallow hack and slash that doesn't fulfill the potential of the series.
