Zack's Death from Final Fantasy Crisis Core was sad, too.

As corny as this is today, I cried buckets of tears playing this game and seeing this scene the first time on the SNES as an 11 year old.
I actually feel a little embarrassed about it to be honest.

Dog being killed in Fable 2. I was seriously thinking "Screw my family I just want my dog back!"

Eleka sacryficing herself in Prince of Persia and then the repurcusions of what the Prince did to bring her back.

The death of Ash/Kaiden at Virmire.

DAO ultimate sacrifice with Leliana suicide ending.

Elena Fisher almost dying in Uncharted 2. They had me going good.

Leaving Kakariko Village in Ocarina of Time. The face that Saria makes before Link turns his back was heartcrushing to me, the first time I played it. There are propably more, but this one was the first game that evoked some sort of emotion/sadness in me, thus it's more memorable.

Mine has to be Big Boss's death in Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater

Yeah this would have to be it, nothing mentioned in this thread even comes close to the Boss's death in Snake Eater. Makes it a lot harder as the game forces you to pull the trigger yourself.

The Red Dead Redemption ending, the pre-credits one at least.
Despite that I had seen it coming for a while, it was still rather an emotional affair and simply a very fitting end for an exceptional game.

I really liked the ending to Red Dead Redemtion as well, I knew there was no other way the story could end but I did wonder how Rockstar would pull it off considering the free roam nature of the game.

Pretty much everything in MGS1-4. The top ones from each game is:

MGS1: Sniper Wolf's death. Poor Otacon :(

MGS2: Olga's Death

MGS3: Boss's Death

MGS4: The fact that we know Snake's story is finished and there probably would be another like him ever..plus Big Boss's death.

"This is good, isn't it?"

I think when I saw the opening video of Final Fantasy X-2.

It's because I knew there was no way I could possibly enjoy the game after seeing that and I had just spent 50 dollars.

Seriously, just look at how bad this is.

Compare that to Final Fantasy VII's...

Why can't they make good Final Fantasy games anymore dammit!!!!??

The death of Jenny in The Darkness.

If you havent seen, pretty sad.

I second this. And also the ending, when Jackie gets a few final moments with Jenny before being consumed completely by the Darkness.

ICO: I teared up at the end, when Yorda helps Ico get into the boat while she stays inside the crumbling castle. Of course the end credits take a happier turn but at the time I was crushed at having to see Yorda left behind in spite of spending the whole game holding her hand.

Metal Gear Solid: I always preferred the ending where Meryl dies. Watching Snake yell at himself for failing and then seeing Otacon try to console him was a lot more moving than Snake and Meryl driving off into the sunset (or sunrise?). Another emotional scene is Grey Fox's last stand against Metal Gear Rex and the conversation Snake has with Naomi, regarding her brother, at the end of the game.

That's kinda why I ignore MGS4. Meryl's death is a lot more potent. It can also serve as kind of a catalyst for Snake to get involved with the Philanthropists.

The ending to Xenosaga III had be bawling because my favourite character was killed off. Haven't really cried since then while gaming.

You want to know what really was the saddest moment in video game history?

THIS WAS!

Do NOT tell me you didn't cry when you saw this for the first time. You're lying and everyone knows it.

I only played the first one and will probably never play the others. It wasn't Ziggy, was it? Loved that guy.
