The slogans suck but, I would rather have them than Fable's faux hype.

Because we Dragon Age fans are a mature bunch, I'm sure we won't act like the Mass Effect crowd and spend pages discussing her appearance.

The assumption seems to be that any interview/trailer could be someone's first interview/trailer and it's more important to slant everything to someone who's seeing things for the first time as opposed to those of us who sit around eagerly awaiting new scraps of info and devouring them like ravenous wolves.
I think we all know that marketing a game to people who aren't already paying close attention is terrible and offensive. What's even worse is that we know the marketing will never change as the release date draws closer. It's catch-phrases and slogans from here on out, as we cleverly hide the truth of our game from those who absolutely need to see more right now.
At least you admit it.

Those catch phrases wouldn't be a problem if you could actually see someone press a button and then see something cool happen on screen..
Nope- no gameplay - more catchphrases.
It's the hotrodsamurai way to market a game.

Wait, it was "Fight for the Lost."
"Fight the Future" was the marketing tagline for he first X-Files movie.

Well, that would be freaking obnoxious. Nothing wrong with calling attention to that fact, especially if it's done on a regular basis elsewhere in the forums.slimgrin wrote...

Wow, she really hit all the talking points, didn't she?Maria Caliban wrote...
* Framed narrative
* New artstyle "It's grimmer. It's bloodier. It's sexier."
* Old enemies and new enemies
* New, more responsive combat engine
* "You press a button - something awesome happens!"
* "Think like a general, but fight like a Spartan."
She should run for office. If she can stay on message that well, she'd be a dream candidate to manage.

I Have to say, DA2 has very lousy marketing.

Both of these Are Terrible
You forgot my favorite features, strip out half the RPG elements and turn it into a hollywood cinematic movie. Seems to be all teh rage these days.

I guess the catchphrases from ME, DA:O and ME2 are easily forgotten because hating DA2 is the new ****.
What you did there? I see it.

Are you trying to turn this into a "what defines an RPG"? Try whining in another one of the threads that's ontopic.

As Tomasz Gop recently put it; that's just what they are right now.

With the Hollywood cinematic comment, she may have a point, but hopefully not with DA2. Some devs are concerned more with stylish cut scenes than gameplay. That's what sells games nowadays.

You're taking some liberties here. He was talking about combat and cut scenes enhancing story, not replacing it. God forbid Bioware and CD Projekt actually think fancy cinematics can take the place of story telling.

Sometimes I wanna think like Starscream and Fight like Cobra Commander.
A few minutes ago whilst playing Saints Row 2, one of the exceedingly annoying NPCs said something about fighting like a cobra. I blew him away with my grenade launcher; it was GLORIOUS! I was then run over by The Brotherhood a few seconds later. Not so glorious.
As for all the DA2 marketing slogans we're hearing, new or old, I'm not really bothered by them. Maybe it's because I have an odd sense of humour. *shrugs* Now, if the marketing team starts shouting "Fight for the Hawke!" I'll probably have to sit down and have a drink or two. Or three hundred.

My bad, I was still talking about combat. Didn't read your post right.

Yet it is ok to bring the snark to every thread?
Just seeing what "the rules according to Dave of Canada" are before I post anything.
Cause I wanted to say how "meh" this trailer was and how it hit almost every sour note so far in one short video... but I'm afraid that might not be in your list of "allowed" subjects.
