Sometimes I wanna think like Starscream and Fight like Cobra Commander.

A few minutes ago whilst playing Saints Row 2, one of the exceedingly annoying NPCs said something about fighting like a cobra. I blew him away with my grenade launcher; it was GLORIOUS! I was then run over by The Brotherhood a few seconds later. Not so glorious. :(

As for all the DA2 marketing slogans we're hearing, new or old, I'm not really bothered by them. Maybe it's because I have an odd sense of humour. *shrugs* Now, if the marketing team starts shouting "Fight for the Hawke!" I'll probably have to sit down and have a drink or two. Or three hundred. Yes, calling somebody out on something they are doing is being snarky. Thank you for informing me.

/snarky

I just called her out on something she often accuses me of doing, I didn't know there was a double standard on this forum.

Cause I wanted to say how "meh" this trailer was and how it hit almost every sour note so far in one short video... but I'm afraid that might not be in your list of "allowed" subjects.

That's following the thread. Coming into a thread and going "I HATE CHEESE, CHEESE IS DISGUSTING" isn't a "Dave of Canada rule", going into a thread about cheese and saying you hate it is.

No, there shouldn't be a double standard.  Neither of you (nor anyone else) should feel they have to right to call someone out on something they themselves do.

So in that, we agree.

And since it's allowed -

The video was just a nice compilation of almost all of the "oh no, why?" moments of all the DA2 marketing for me so far.  Just missing the "unlocking the camera from the selected character (time passes) the camera is locked on the selected character" / "tactical camera remains, you just can't pull out as much (time passes) camera is stuck at ground level and locked on the selected character but you can zoom back" sets of "yes! (time passes) NO!" moments for me.

Most of the game trailers I've seen so far don't show much gameplay at all. It's mainly just in-game cinematics. There was one of female Hawke which went for 1:45. Only 30 seconds of gameplay, I believe.

Because we Dragon Age fans are a mature bunch, I'm sure we won't act like the Mass Effect crowd and spend pages discussing her appearance.

I wasn't going to follow the link because it sounded like meaningless marketing, but... you got me. :)

I'd rather think like a philosopher and fight like a Theben.

And when I press a button I think I'd like something sexual to happen instead of something awesome.

Surely the former would ideally result in the latter?

It's disheartening hom much people generally seem to hate/dislike this game. It seems no matter what site I read comments on DA2 at, the amount of negativeness is quite staggering - and arguably the larger the amount of pc userbase the site has, the higher the degree of negativeness.

I remember in my experience ME2 was pretty much anticipated happily in unison no matter the site, same with Witcher 2 at the moment. But with DA2 it is something like Alpha Protocol level of contempt pre-release.

I wouldnt say dislike/hate, but perhaps more critical as our expectations run wild.

Also, AP s*cked. We wouldn't want this to happen to our beloved DA2 keeping in mind that this is a BW forum, expect to get more faourable perceptions (otherwise you get locked-down or attacked by hardcore BW fans).

You remember -oh so very- wrong.

...and I think you didn't spend much time at the official TW2 forums or else you would have seen all the whining threads about: QTE's, shorter game length, "TW2 is going to consoles ?!?!!", "The new Gerald looks like sh*** !!", etc...

I admit it's been awhile but wouldn't something sexual qualify as something awesome?

Mostly I chalk it up to BW not showing jack all about the actual game.. Seriously, this close to the end of the dev cycle and we have a couple leaked gameplay vids from "old build" demos that "don't represent actual gameplay", some screenshots, some very basic info aaannnddd that's about it..

Bioware has to start releasing info soon along with a larger marketing push during the holidays or else I forsee this game doing far worse on sales than BW hopes.  Most AAA titles at this stage in the game have numerous gameplay vids and in-depth previews.. People are jonsing for some real information rather than the thousanth utterance of "press a button and something awesome happens". Plus the changes announced are fairly drastic for a sequal and yet peoples fears haven't been waylayed by BW showing and telling.

Hopefully some meat comes out in December because if there isn't some substance arising in the coming month, I have a hunch a date push back will be a possibility.

That "guy" is the immortal Captain James T. Kirk and indeed, that's why he's mad... also because Spock told him that Caprica got cancelled.

You should notice I had a few hedges there. And besides that, naturally there are going to be exceptions, and the official forums tend to be the place for the most passionate of customers and the place for issuing complaints. What worries me is how even the general gaming media and gaming public outside such forums seems to have generally a much more negative attitude to DA2 than to either ME2 had or TW2 is currently having.

Enough of the hard sell already! How about as an early x-mas treat, you release some gameplay footage or a demo BioWare?

No, i will not accept alternative gifts like mince tarts or cheap christmas crackers.

I should send the offices of Eurogamer a fruitcake this Christmas for uploading what amounts to a long advertisement. ...actually forget it. I rather eat the fruitcake myself. The only thing I got from this is canon Hawke, if there is such a thing, is considered male. I mean, I would have been a lot less miffed at hearing the same catch phrases again if she at least mentioned Hawke could be of either gender. Le sigh.

She says you can play as a male or female Hawke.

"In Dragon Age 2, you play the story of Hawke during his or her rise to power."

lol how cute, you things think you're better than the me2 group? you're both filled equally with winey hipster brats who don't know jack about anything but won't ever let that stop you from crying endlessly over every little thing

"oh so and so is ugly by a completely diffrent relm of standards, oh i hate this despite knowing nothing of it, oh this is gonna be bad, oh bioware doesn't care, oh i know everything bout game development despite being an armchair developer" see? i just summarized this entire threads worth of posts. Now go compare it to ANY ME2 thread and see the mirror like effect, it's mind boggling hey?
