I've never once seen a reason to gain access to Dominate as a bonus power, but I'm curious about a certain build that uses it and so I need to get it. However, as someone who uses Samara a great deal, I don't want to kill her just to gain access to a power I'll be using later. I heard that if you quicksave before speaking with Morinth, kill Samara, finish the mission, return to the ship, then quickload and kill Morinth, you'll get access to both Reave and Dominate while still keeping Samara on your team. Is this true?

Yes, you do not even have to go to your ship though.
Save the game in the apartement, kill Samara, finish the mission - Dominate is unlocked for all your characters - load game, kill Morinth and continue your game.

Dominate is very usefull btw, i did a super controller playthrough, engineer with both dominate and AI hacking. very evil to have on veteran or normal xd

Any mission with mercs + mechs ends up as a "whatch how they kill eachother" kinda mission. Just don't max them out, the shields are too powerfull even on insanity.
