I've noticed that I can play the game without the CD. After, searching the internet I found some mention of the cd check being removed as of version 1.66. However, the patch info file doesn't mention this, nor is there any official announcment from Bioware regarding this.
Is there any official note from Bioware about this?

They acknowledged it on the old forums IIRC, but I don't believe there was ever anything in the patch notes or an official announcement thread. If you're worried it's not legit, don't be. I believe it was removed in the Official 1.65 patch.

huh.. that's strange. the PC version has always asked me for a CD...that is, until i added:
J:\\ [CD ROM]=C:\\NeverwinterNights\\NWN
to the nwconfig.ini file recently.
the linux client however never needed the cd however.
