My saddest moment in ME2 was without a doubt my reunion with Liara on Illium for the first time. It hurt me beyond all belief, and it toally changed my character, Shepard became almost homicidal and suicidal in his missions, until LotSB.

So yeah definitely Liara reunion.

I didn't find anything in ME2 sad. I can understand why some of it might make people sad, but it didn't have an effect on me. Probably because I'm apathetic and pessimistic.

Sheps death at the beginning.
I wouldn't call it sad though, more shocking or gut-wrenching. It was one of those chillbump moments for me. Seeing Shep suffocating hearing nothing but his dissipating breathing, then finally asphyxiating and that earie piano comes in. Then it goes all black and then poof the ME2 logo shows up. I just wish they would of used the ME2 logo effect they did for the Legion teaser trailer they did a while back with the metallic like screech when the 2 fades in, then it would of been perfect.

I'm really about the same myself; I didn't find a whole lot of it sad. Except a few instances like the ones I mentioned a couple of posts earlier: Thane crying during the romance, Tali's father's body discovered, Samara and Morinth, but that's pretty much that, really.

I'd say seeing David strung up in Overlord. No game has hit me like that.

Everyone says Talis fathers' death is sad. I assume it is, I don't feel it though. Same with Samara and Morinth. I can understand how it's sad but I don't feel it. And I've never done Thane's romance.

Seeing Shepard dying in that silent void of space with the light of the horizon fading with her life. Hit me hard

Pressly's final log

I suspect seeing every teammate die on the mission will haunt me with every playthrough

Nothing tops dumping Jack after leading her on. That has to be one of the cruelest things Shepard can do. Just the way he delivers the lines, you know it kills her. Meer certainly did a good job.

Quoted for truth, man my god was that horrible. I mean you could literally feel her heart break when he turns her down and now that I've seen it, and can't unsee it, it remains in the back of my mind and continues to haunt me.
I literally had to go watch the Jack romance scene on youtube like, twenty times, in order to permenantly force the image of her finding true happiness with the tender and loving Shepard into my psyche and get rid of that horrible... horrible scene if Shepard turns her down.
Seriously, I'm an Ashley fan to the core but I feel like my next playthrough of Mass Effect 2, I will romance Jack just because I want to see the happy ending.

Also on the list is, obviously, the sadness of the scene on Horizon as the two star crossed lovers Ashley and Shepard are pulled apart by the new situation always upsets me due to my emotional investment in that story. Also seeing Mordin cry at the results of his experiments always upsets me.

Finally the mother of the girl Morinith killed, I was so saddened by it that there was literally no way I was letting Morinith live.

The whole opening scene hit me pretty hard my first playthrough. I was like "STOP BLOWING HOLES IN MY SHIP!!!" plus watching Shepard, MY Shepard, getting spaced and struggling to breath, it was hardcore.

The Tali hug was pretty sad. I felt so bad for her, especially since I knew her since ME1. She sounded so broken up. Her voice actress did a good job in this game.

Overlord was pretty wrong. Seeing David tied up to those machines, and his last repeating words, tragic.

The krogan who just wants to raise his son. It's very sad but touching to listen to the entire conversation.

The video of the quarian on the Alari who leaves the message for her daughter. "Mommy loves you very much!" right before she dies struck a nerve.

Overlord's ending. That was just...brilliant. I almost cried. It was so sad.

Tali finding her father.

Tali talking about not having her homeworld and what life was like having to wear enviro-suits.

Everytime the genophage was mentioned. Especially the Krogan father's dialogue :(

First time I saw Shep die :o Not really that sad. But shocking. I was so surprised!

Seriously? Accepting Tali is the creepiest/saddest bit. It basically is made clear that (ignoring plot armor) ShepSmecks could well kill her. When Shepard rejects her, he says something like "It's too dangerous - I won't put you at risk." - You found that sad? Do you routinely place more value on sex than a woman's life?

Watching Ashley walk away and knowing that there is absolutely nothing I can do to force my Shepard to start acting sensibly was the saddest part of the game for me.

I actually said this on my first playthrough and I said it kinda the same way depp did in PotC.  lol

Anyway,
Shep struggling after he got spaced is one of the biggest.  Also not
just the Tali finding her father but the entire loyalty mission.
Including the trial, where she learns of the Alarai, and then once on
the Alerai as we are learning bit by bit about what her father did, and
seeing it dawn on Tali what happened.

The entire mission is sad.
Now when I play ME2 I always wait till later on in the game (one of the
last missions before SM) to do this because I want to get my Paragon
score high enough to do the paragon option at the conclusion of the
trial.  The part where Shep tells what Tali has done for the Quarian
people.

Well, I thought about that, too. But actually, I did not feel sad, but rather infuriated and my first thought was more like: "Alright, you geth bastards, payday!".

Seeing you created Shepard getting sucked out of the ship really sets the mood right away. Also when Tali's dad was found dead, was a bit heart wrenching, realizing that she is all alone really brings a tender moment between her and Shepard. And of course the finale of Overlord DLC, I think that truely was the saddest moment in the ME2.

I have seen my Shep die, I have romanced Thane, I have seen David in Overlord, I have visited Alchera; all of those made me sad; there are enough sad moments in the game if you know where to look. However, only two of them made me want to really cry. Actually, I almost cried when talking to Erinya and also when Miranda decided not to talk to Oriana.

She was heavily pre-medicated; there's not much to indicate that she's in life-threatening danger. If she was, one would think that Mordin would point it out.
