The system they used to avoid the uncomfortable 'so our milkman was Rivaini' situation that arose in the Human Noble origin of DA:O is actually pretty robust. I've seen it affect all sorts of things in addition to just skin colour.
Hmm...so it affects things besides skin color? So if I make a custom made Hawke with a bird like massive nose (like....a Hawk?), Bethany, Carver and Mama Hawke may have similarly large noses?

I hope so. That sounds hilarious.Brockololly wrote...

Does it affect the level of herp-derpness of Carver?

...Oh no! I didn't think of that, does that mean if I don't use default hawke, I won't get herpedyderpederp carver?
I've never used the default, but now I'm so torn.

Kinda throws the whole bloodline thing out the window though, and considering the rest of Ferelden seems to think that's extremely important, it sort of breaks the storyline. Not in too many substantial ways unless - for example - you're male and proposing to marry Anora and she cites your Cousland blood as a positive trait, but it violates the story's internal consistency. As I understand it, the only way for the Warden to believably have Cousland blood is to be his father's son (or daughter), as Bryce Cousland is the pater familias.
When I wanted to make a black human Warden, I just rolled a mage. No pesky incongruities there.
I used the "sired a bastard during the rebellion" principle. Fergus was already born and Bryce got some extramarital loving. The he raises his bastard at Highever, and instead of being paranoid and terified about his threat to the line of succession, Mama Cousland is a kind stepmom.

Default male Hawke and Bethany look pretty Asian to me already. (Central Asian, not East Asian)

Given Carver looks so much unlike his siblings, that doesn't appear to be the case. For him, at least.Brockololly wrote...

I'm hoping that their faces will also change a bit when you change hawke's, to keep that family resemblance ... that would be so kickass.

Also, some more food for thought--have you noticed that carver and bethany actually share the same facial features as default femhawke and malehawke?

Black hair, I'd assume eye type and perhaps nose too.tmp7704 wrote...

"Herp-derpness"?
Is that meant to imply that the one facial expression you've seen of the character so far must mean he's mentally handicapped in some fashion?

Really that's about as accurate an assessment as assuming your average poster is a moron because they happen to express an idiotic opinion in a single post-- but I guess it'll happen nevertheless.

They assume Carver is stupid because it's easier than considering the alternatives.
As for me being an idiot, it's just who I am, Mr Gaider. I deny nothing, because it's beyond my mental faculties.

That....what? He might actually be awesome? Or the fact that the footage that the screenshot was taken from might have been shot from a bad angle, giving way to distortion?Nerivant wrote...

This is off topic anyways.
Back on track; I think the fact that Hawke's family's skin color changes to reflect his/hers is capital!

People like to believe what they've seen. Sometimes, it's easier to alter reality to match your perceptions than the other way around.
