Man - what a great opportunity you have - being able to create models of your own design - all of your areas look really great - I wish I could create my own CC... I mean besides modifying 2das and scripting feats and such.

This is bringing back memories SDF. the areas look very nice indeed.

I want to play test but my own projects mean I would not do a very good job. I am very excited to have a go at this when it is complete.

I love the lighting and the skeleton it really brings to mind the original.

What are you doing for ice trolls? (sorry was that a spoiler?)

I'm just a noob at this but I have to ask:
Can't you use NWN placebables ?
Can't they be converted ?
There are so many out there, Cep etc.

If I only did know how I do it, but as I sad I'm just a Noob, never used the toolset.

Can't you use NWN placebables ? NO

Can't they be converted ? Yes, but they look like crap next to NWN2 nativ one or custom one, so it's better to do new one if possible or to use something else if not possible.

"If I only did know how I do it, but as I sad I'm just a Noob, never used the toolset. "
You must submit yourself to the taint for the greater good, The innitial contact can be very painfull, but if you survive, you'll gain something in return ! And I am sure Slowdive will gladly welcome any help.

And thank's Shallina for you're quick answer.

Yes, that should explain eveything you need to convert placeables from NWN1.  I have been creating custom placeables rather than converting them because I enjoy creating them and I want them to look as close to the original as I can.  Also, it takes time to find a placeable that is exactly (or close to )  like the original IWD placeables (NWN1 has almost too much custom content, haha).

If you find anything worth converting for the IWD project, please feel free to do that and send them my way. Thanks again for offering to help, we (mostly just me now) can definitely use the help.

Thank you slowdive.fan for you're quick answer.
Do I need a 3D program to make placeables or do the toolset work just fine ?
If I want to convert direct from IWD do I have to make them from scratch in a 3D program or toolset ?

Thanks
Humiz

You need a 3D program to convert NWN1 placeables to NWN2. You can not convert IWD placeables since there are no 3D placeables in the original IWD (actually, the developers probably have them somewhere). So for IWD placeables, you would have to create them from scratch in a 3D program (which is what I have been doing). There are a couple of free 3D programs that work for NWN2 (GMax and Blender). There is a big learning curve, but not so bad for simple placeables. There are tons of good tutorials on the RWS site you mentioned (Thanks Hellfire for those invaluable tools). Also in the Custom Content forums here there is are a number of good sticky topics to read.

Looking good slowdive.fan. There are two mods avable for the orignal IWD game that may prove of use though how you'd go about implmenting them I have know idea.

The first is the Unfinished Business mod which restores some of the cut qests in the game. The other is the IWD NPC mod which gives you 5 fully fleshed out party NPC's to play the game with. Something to cinsider maybe.

HI OfficerDonNZ,

Thanks for the heads up on the mods. I was already aware of the companions mod and I was considering adding them and/or creating others to IWD NWN2, but probably after I finish the bare bone original verion. The Unfinished Business mod I had not heard of and I should probably look at adding that before I finish the final realease. I had noticed some quests while working on this project that appeared to be dropped in the original.

I expect to have Chapter 5 on The Vault for beta testing this weekend. One chapter to go after that Image IPB

Finished Chapter 5. Chapter 5 (Wyrm's Tooth) is now available on The Vault for BETA testing. If you would like to help with testing, please download and play the campaign. After BETA testing go to this Thread and submit any bugs, suggestions, and/or comments. Posting there will help keep all the bug lists in one place and allow for discussion on each others suggestions. We're slowing moving forward...on to the LAST CHAPTER...

Thanks again for helping out with BETA/bug testing. It allows me to continue on with building the final chapter. Image IPB

Also, for those continuing from a previous saved game, I made a mistake with the door that will transition you to the next chapter.  I forgot that you need to attach a script that does a load module transition.  I fixed this for those starting from the beginning (or before the iwd_06.mod file), but those with previous saves will need to perform the following work around: enter Jamoth's tomb (2nd room in southeast of Dorn's Deep last area) and a script will fire to transition you to the next chapter.  Let me know if you have any problems...thanks again for beta testing...

It looks amazing so far - do you have even a vague estimate of completion dates for the final chapter? I'm kinda thinking of holding off until it is finished...

The final chapter will be ready for Beta testing in about 2.5-3 months.  It'll probably be a few weeks after that before the final/official realease (we need a few weeks to fix all the remaining bugs and play test a coule of times).

Thanks for showing interest and commenting!

I too am awaiting the final product. I can't wait to play the full version of this. It will be great. Now someone just needs to go update the original NWN and expansions for NWN2. Then i would be a truly happy camper. I can't get enough of good Forgotten Realms based modules. Just wish there were a few more for higher level characters. I keep running out of things for them to do.

Thanks Jonesta for stopping by and showing interest. I believe that there are enough differences between the 2nd ed. IE games and NWN2 (3.5 ed) to justify the time involved in converting to NWN2. The originals (IWD, BG, BG2) are still very playable, but if you wanted to play them with 3.5 edition rule set then the IWD and BG NWN2 conversions will be there for you. IWD2 and NWN already use 3.0 edition so they may not be worth converting to NWN2 (I definitely wouldn't spend my time doing that). Maybe some day a BG2 conversion would be in the works to give your high level characters more to do ;)

slowdive.fan forgot to ask are you also including the Heart of Winter and Trials of the Loremaster content in your IWD conversion?

And I have to disagree with you a bit about IWD2, as it could use an NWN2 conversion. If you've ever played the orignal IE version (which I guess you have) you'll know that to put it bluntly it uses a basterirsed 3e rule set (some feats don't even work!) in a game engine that was never really intened to use it. But it's something I'm not going to lose sleep over.

I'd much rather see a BG II conversion :D Hey we can hope right?

I love IWD2. Not to change topics, or even say it needs to be done, just curious that it's not getting much respect here. It was a great tactical dungeon crawl.
