I'd really say DA:O's is one of the best ones that's easily accessible. ME2's isn't too bad but it's much more limited.

@OnlyShallow89, yeah, I saw APB but you can't get it anymore. Will keep it in mind till next year.
edit: Oh, SVR apparently is console-only.
I only have PC.

Depending on if it is as good as CCP is promising, the new character creator coming in January for EVE Online could be the best.
Was just about to say this, it looks insane.

As for the CC that lets me make the best looking character, I would give it to Dragon Age (females in it look so much better than in Mass Effect)

SvR 2011 has the best or damn near close to the best character creator and it's not a MMORPG. I'd give credit to BioWare games if there was full body customization, although if we were just talking about the face then they do have one of the best, but even then SvR 2011 delivers a great face customization.Suprez30 wrote...
Seriously remove MMORPG .. Most MMORPG have superior character creator than any single player game.

What the hell? Fully customizable CGI quality characters? Makes me feel all patriotic. Too bad it's wasted on a space simulator (not that there is anything wrong with that, there just won't be as much focus on the characters as on the epic space battles or economy for that matter... )

Maybe if they ever release the walk inn stations update they've been talking about for 3 years now

Yes, but it would be awkward anyway. Whether they ever finish it or not. What would the created characters do in such a station other than discuss alliances, business deals and the nostalgia of the old and better days, fully equipped with cute speechbubbles over their heads? What else should they do? Dance (Suggestive MMO dances?)? Flash their pecks? Make aggressive gestures? My point is that this seemingly groundbreaking technology seems a little wasted on a virtual 3D lounge, where you can chat with your allies.

What I dislike about the DA:O one is that you're kind of stuck with specific features if you want to make a good-looking character. For example there aren't any wide or big noses that look nice, the characters end up not as handsome if you don't give them the thin type of nose. You can only make oval faces, if you try something else, it looks hideous. There's only one type of Asian eyes. You can't make upper and lower lips different. And so on.
Thanks again to everyone who posted!

Oblivion's only "pretty" if you're either blind or you've got a penchant for terrible lore-breaking mods. Fallout 3 is somewhat better with Project Beauty HD installed, but not by much. The character creator tool Bethesda have is absolutely horrendous and a complete waste of time.

That's my biggest grip with face altering mods. They often cause characters to look out of place in the game's universe. I know it's all up to personal preference but I can't stand seeing Fallout characters that look like they belong in an anime or Hot Topic store. I much prefer realism over porcelain dolls and I would love for Bethesda to greatly improve their creators.
I do like the character creator for Dragon Age: Origins. However, I take issue with the fact that you cannot create a black character that does not have this unnatural reddish-tint to the skin tone. I play on the XBox so modding is not an option, not that modding should ever be a true substitute for well made creators.
