Problems with e-mail address's and log-ins

I've been reading about others problems with e-mail address's and such, but haven't seen one like mine yet.  I have to admit, I don't understand this "Social Network Beta" place Bioware has going.   It seems to be put together just to get on my nerves.

My problem started when I came here to the DA, or EA or Bio site...  whoever runs this place.  To make an account it was suggested that I merge my BioWare account and both accounts would be go to go.   I did that and all seemed fine.  However when I went to get the DLC here it had my old e-mail address.   I went over to BioWare and saw that I never changed my e-mail there when I move a year or so ago.   So I updated the e-mail at BioWare (Was easy I might add!) and came back here to change the address.   Big problem!  There is no way to change the e-mail address here.  I tried to send an e-mail to Support, but ya have to log-in to do so, and now my log-in doesn't work, expect for logging into the main Social Network page.  I can log in there.  I use the loging from over at BioWare.   That is a screen name and password.  For support it seems they want a log-in of E-mail and password.   No e-mail works.   I try the screen name and it doesn't work.  So no way to contact support, just great!   I finally found under FAQ's a place to change e-mail address's, but again it needs a log-in, and no matter what log-in I use it doesn't take it.

I'm stumped.   I don't know why my log-in works for this site, but for all the support stuff it doesn't.  I don't understand why there is no easy way to change your e-mail address, seems short sighted to me.  And I can't for the life of me understand why I can't get the new e-mail over at BioWare to merge with this account here.

Any ideas?  Help?  Maybe a support person can read this and tell me how to get a hold of them.

 Thanks all!

You can login with your display name because it serves as a unique identifier (that's also why you can't change it), like the EA e-mail address. You can't change your EA e-mail address here because that, too, is a unique identifier -- however, for your EA account. To change your e-mail address here you have to go to the EA profile page you've already been to and login with your EA e-mail address/password. If you had an EA account which you linked to your old BioWare account before registering here (doesn't sound like it?), whatever combination you registered that account with is what you need. If you didn't, a new EA account was created and associated with the e-mail address of your old BioWare account (because you opted to reclaim your display name) when you registered here, and that combination is the one you need to use. Are you sure you've tried these?

And it is not short-sighted (quite the contrary). If you could change your e-mail address here it would change the e-mail address of all your accounts tied to the EA master account. I'm sure this would confuse many people. It makes a lot more sense to demand that users change their master account's e-mail address only, and then have associated accounts inherit it.

Snoteye, I'll agree that it makes sense that you change the E-Mail via the master account. Which is the master? I guess I thought the Bioware one was. It was the first and only account I had untill this one was made.

I tried all the combo's of e-mail and password or user name and password that fit, and none worked. However, today I came to this site via the game and it worked using the old e-mail and normal password. I'll try the profile page again. Maybe it just needed time to settle in?

Thanks for your reply Snoteye.... I think it helped.

Nope, still didn't work. Still telling me that the screen name and password appears to be invalid. So I can sign-in here using just the screen name of Grom56 and my password, or via the game using my old e-mail and same password, but using either of those on the profile page is invalid.

Ah well, would have been nice to have gotten to use the DLC I paid for, but not to be I guess. Kinda puts a limit on the game.

Still not able to work my way onto a support page for help, as my log-in only works on this site it seems.

for the help.dragonage.com site, use the same email address/password you're using to log in *in the game*. That should also be what you're using here.

Both this site and Dragon Age: Origins use EA accounts under the hood - when in doubt, use your in-game login info.

I'll give it a try Jesse, thanks! So is this help.dragonage.com site a different support then the one here?

Ok, thanks to both of ya.... Snoteye and Jesse van Herk, I got part of the problem fixed. Like I said this place was using an old e-mail address. Took me a while to see what was wrong with it.

Now the problem is: Going to the support page, I fill in the header info... PC; DragonAge; all that, but there is no place to type an e-mail. I even went to EA.com as the page for changing EA's e-mail address said too. There was no log-in button there like the page said there would be.

So I'm getting deeper in, but still can't change my e-mail at this site to match my BioWare account and my real e-mail address.

Does it really need to be this hard to update an e-mail address?
