I think Morrigan not wanting to bang other chicks fits with her personality.

It'd also sort of be overkill to make her swing both ways.

about the thread getting flamed, that assasin is flaming enough. I already figured he was that way the first time I saw him in the game with the way he talks, his tanned skin and his blonde hair. He certainly looks the part.

It suits his character though to be that way.

Yeah he set my 'gaydar' off the first time I saw him. This was before I learned he was, in fact, bisexual :)
Really well done character in my books. He has a lot of mysteries, and attempting to delve into his past, and understand him, is a part of the fun. Is he truly little more than a dispassionate and cynical pleasure-seeker, or is it a facade, a cover to hide some emotional vulnerability?

I suppose so.  Well, it gives me an excuse to make another male character aside from my Dwarf.  I just can't picture the little guy with any of the available options.

It also fits with ... spoiler hint ... the conclusion to her plotline.

She's not really in it for the kisses.

The assumption you may be tripping over here is that Shale is MALE.  It is possible that "she " is "female".  Just saying.....

^Actually, shale is a pile of rocks, rocks are not subject to societal bounds of sexuality, and hence, cannot possibly be gay/straight/bi =) They are, however, entitled to the freedom of accessorization or 'glam', if you will, under the Independence Treaty for all inanimate-objects-bound-by-spirits-in-the kingdom-of-Ferelden under the rule of Johann. Q. Maker.

Shale can talk anyway it wants, in the end it's a pile of rocks without a pee pee or woo woo =) We can personify him or her anyway we want, but that's only according to our own preconceptions. Objectively speaking, Shale is an 'it', and keep in mind that certain conversations I have not yet had with Shale may totally make my aforestated theory failsauce.

You can also have gay relationships with the Sims. I know that game does not compare to this game at all, totally different but also in that one your toon can actually be gay without any prompting from you at all. I had a male who I just let run loose, went away for an hour, came back and he had invited another male to live with him, got engaged (yes male/male and female/female can marry in game as well) and they got a dog too LOL.

Spoiler-

Shale was a female dwarf.

Indeed, it could be erroneous to suggest that Shale is male, I mean, it's a Golem, it is without gender.

Actually the Maker is significantly indifferent to gays. He finds it a pass-time, but encourages procreation as well.

This has been addressed in past.

David Gaider wrote...

You're welcome. Nice to see someone
liked Zevran -- I always thought he was delicious fun, if not the sort
of guy you'd bring home to meet mother. :)

As for those who
don't like Zevran hitting on them -- I think with every romanceable
character there is the opportunity to tell them point blank that you
simply aren't interested when they flirt with you. In fact, I recall
making doubly sure with Zevran that this is the case. You don't need to
be rude. If he is flirting with you repeatedly, there can really only
be one explanation why.

Sorry to say, Gaider, I had to kill Zevran on my first time through, but I tried to be polite about it. He just didn't really convince me, in the eyes of my elven character that she should spare him. I did interrogate him as much as I could to look for an 'in', but the only ones I really found were ones I discovered after I came to talk to other people about it. I'll keep their ideas in mind my next playthrough, but for now, I guess my elf just doesn't take well to being assassinated, even as a failed attempt. She just interrogated Zevran to learn who sent him after her and then swallowed hard and ended his life. It was dramatic, but I felt sad afterwards. Murder is never fun, is the morale here.

On a good point, I really love what you (at Bioware) did with Alistair. You made a grown man cry and made me care for him to the point where I really wanted to comfort him in real life. The VO did his lines spot on and the lines themselves really tore at my heart-strings. I was deeply impressed with the direction you went with him, but now you've left me in a conundrum; Leliana was also more intriguing than I thought.

Now I can't choose! Dammit Bioware, why does all your NPC's have to be so awesome?! If I had Zevran would me, the universe just might have imploded.

Fallout 2.

To be fair, that's more a healthy respect for the business end of a shotgun than a relationship - a relationship which is soon ended by an SMG on full auto at point blank range.

I was also really happy that a gay male relationship was included, it's something to be commended and supported and Bioware has my thanks. But, specifically I wasn't impressed with Zevran.

The "i slept overnight in a tanning bed" skin and the terrible cringe-inducing accent coupled with the deep voice coming out of that body, i'd be just as jarred to see a petite chinese woman with a southern accent.

I could forgive that, but Zevran and the relationship just wasn't that interesting, it felt more like emotionally distant friends with benefits than anything. It was a shame because Alistair was infinitely, infinitely more attractive and he was sadly off limits. Still I'm thrilled that a gay male option was included and I don't want to come off as ungrateful, just hoping there'll be a slightly more fulfilling direction included in the future.

Both ME and KotOR offered F/F relationships, and Jade Empire had both M/M and F/F relationships available.

Yes and no. KotOR didn't really, it had a half-realize half-aborted female "romance" with Juhani, but I gather that Lucasarts put the kybosh on that, so it was removed later, so it doesn't really come to anything. No M/M options in KotOR. ME had no M/M option (and, technically as Liara is monogendered (though appears for all intents and purposes as female) that one is debateable also.

Jade Empire was the first time they did anything "true" with it, there's M/M, F/F and F/M/F options in Jade. (Jade is so far the first and only game to have a threesome option). I don't know if BG1/BG2 did or not, as I did not play them (I really mean to one of these days..maybe if that conversion mod happens). I also assume DAO only has F/F, M/F, and M/M options, and doesn't have any multi-parings, unless I hear otherwise.

In KotOR you could have a f/f relationship with Bastilla. I know this first hand. I didn't know about the Juhani thing.

Bastila was a mod. Or a bug. You can't normally have a relationship with her. With Juhani you just get a "I care for you and we'll talk about it later."

Yay...

That's a fair criticism, but AFAIK, only four characters have full 'romance' plots. The fact that we've got two of them as bisexual is pretty awesome IMHO. And the fact that each of the characters express themselves romantically in such different ways, that's a real plus in my book. It's like real life.
On the plus side, Zevran's pretty damn attractive. I'm pretty shallow myself so I've got no issue at all with my character shagging a pretty boy who's emotionally unable or unwilling to commit to something deeper.

Which, if you think about it, is hardly realistic. Not all people in the world are bisexual, not by a long shot, and very few people will dive into bed with someone they just met. But then, it's a game, and some willing suspension of disbelief is necessary to enjoy it, I s'pose :)

Technically I believe Dairren and/or Iona have known the PC (at least in passing) for a good while, if not the better part of their lives (at least for my female human noble, re: Dairren). Especially since you get the impresion that their parent has/is grooming them to marry into SOME sort of nobility, that's actually not all that far-fetched.

Iona just met the PC that day. Dairren, though, has known the family for quite awhile. However, I get the impression that the concept of a sexual relations with the PC is a new one for them both

Speaking of which - I just found out that you can proposition Duncan, he turns you down though.

Haha, I was going to post something similar.  I too am very appreciative that we're finally represented in game.  I just wish they had gone one step further and left it open to us.  I had thought it was and I gave that bloody Alistair a ton of gifts until he was at 100/100 but I still didn't get to shag him. :(

Anyway, bravo Bioware.

Cheers.

I'm fine with all of this, although I am specifically straight, my only problem is how zevran won't stop hitting on me... just really weird to someone who isn't gay.

Lord, this is how I've felt in nearly every game ever.  I'm gay, and no matter what I do all these women keep coming on to me, and I constantly have to choose between acting like a total jerk to them or hitting on them back.

Exactly. Some people just don't look at it from our point of view. :(

This reminds me of how Wynne gave me a lecture about love when she talked to my character about his relationship with Zevran, lol
