To be fair though I sort of do like it that they kept a few characters like that. Characters should have some lines in the sand that they are not willing to cross no matter how persuasive your character is. Just as some characters in the game leave or attack you if you do certain deeds with others being approving of those deeds, I can imagine some character's being completly straight & others going both ways.
The one thing I am waiting for is in the next Bioware game for Party character to be completly gay and not open to hetrosexual relationships. It would be interesting.
I agree completely. Games like Fable may have the option to be gay, but it's very generic. You're not actually getting to know a gay character, anyone and everyone is fair game to either gender. Same goes for the sims. Sexuality should be an integral part of a character. That doesn't mean you can't have bisexual characters, but making everyone bisexual is kind of a cop out.
So while I wouldn't want every guy I encounter in the game to be keen on some man love, I was really hoping Alistair would be

@BioWare: When you've lived in an intolerant place all your life, disagreeing with the values, and suddenly move to a place where tolerance is the norm, you realize just how important it is. I'm glad you went for some level of tolerance here guys, as are all of my gay and bi-sexual friends that I've convinced into buying this game. Keep up the good (and tolerant,) work BioWare.

As for Alistair, would have been fun to have him as an option but then again, doesn't seem in his character, he's cute and he's as funny as all heck but only would go as far as a bro-hug methinks.

As a bi-sexual myself, I'd like to take the time to thank Bioware as well for letting us have true freedom to decide what we want and not give into the intolerance of a lot of people out there. Also thank you for making it meaningful than just a generic device (Fable 2) or not really lasting (Fallout 2). As for the ones actually going against it, grow up a little before playing your next 'mature' rated game, it's all bound by choice, if you want it all hetero then you have the option there just like real life, welcome to role-play, you have to make a choice over just who you kill.

Bisexuals don't exist, just greedy people:D
All kidding aside, I want to add to the numerous praises about this aspect of the game. I am an effeminate male who was teased a lot in school about my gay manerisms, so naturally questioned it within myself, even contemplated experimentation. It turns out I just love V*g**a way too much for there to be any room left in my heart (or other places) for anything else, and never did experiment, as it really wasn`t for me. But these experiences definitely gave me a deep understanding and sentiment for people who have to perpetually deal with society treating them as "abnormal", and it is my opinion that Bioware has made a direct impact on an earth where one day (hopefully) there will be no distinction between straight and gay. What I mean by this is that, when you meet someone and you know they're straight, it never enters your head to think "that person is straight". I hope one day it comes to a point where it is the same situation if you meet someone who is gay. Congrats and hats off to you, Bioware.

My char wants to get with Shale
Iwas talking with Shale - question for you gay guys - is Shale gay? He certainly sounded it when talking about his accessories, but then maybe it is just that I have no fashion sense. I ask only because you guys usually know.

The assumption you may be tripping over here is that Shale is MALE. It is possible that "she " is "female". Just saying.....

Spoiler-
Shale was a female dwarf.
That spoiler warning was really just for your conscience, hm?

I'm greedy and proud of it!
To your point in your post I agree and sorry that you did get teased, point of the fact is that it's a progressive society that we are in and the only way to have some sort of peace is for us to accept people for what they are.

I'll come back and add more after having completed the game. Right now, I can't really say too much. But thanks to the staff that made these characters happen.

Truly, thank you for the sentiment. While I can't say I much liked it at the time, today, 15 years later, It is actually a part of my past that I cherish dearly because it had a large effect on how I benevolently view people today. I come from a family that has strict homophobic views (they're old fashioned), but also a family who respects my points of view; an odd combination, but I love them for it.

Wait, wait.. Really? I'm one of those women who loooooove effeminate guys, not metrosexuals wayyy too much ego, but just 'pretty' males. In fact I've been accused of dating bisexuals or gays in denial by my so called friends in high school and college. Anyway what's my point? I don't think I have one I guess there's all types of people for everyone out there.
Also I love Zevran cannot wait to romance him on my next play through

I just didn't like the way that when you're getting really close to sumbody of ur genre it start being a gay relationship, I mean, couldnt it just be superb friends ? Im not criticizing the gay relasionship possibility, I just think it should have an option on the setting or sumthing, like:
Gay relashionship(ON/OFF)
Hmm there is an off switch? For example Leliana was getting a bit flustered and shy around me, I let her know point blank I liked as a friend only and she suddenly turned into my BFF...

I haven't run into anybody to whom I couldn't give a polite but firm "No thanks, I don't think of you that way."drakedare wrote...

If you choose the "obvious flirt" options, though, you can't really blame the bisexual characters for getting mixed signals from you...

Then I kind of fell for Alistair with my female character and decided "what the heck", I'm RP'ing her, not me, right? And then along comes Leliana who gradually edged into my character's psyche and suddenly my character swings both ways? I'm not sure where I begin and she ends, whether she is a man trapped in a woman's body or I'm a woman trapped in a man's body. I'm not even sure it matters - it all felt very natural and tastefully done.
Surely that's ultimately what love is all about?
