I have been discussing Serene and Sheep and Stone here in the Modules forum, and plan to have more discussions about community modules as I work my way through them.  I have had discussions with others who suggested there may be more prominent forums here to have these discussions, so I wanted to get the opinion of the community.

Should I discuss community modules here, or would another forum be better?  If so, which one.

Cheers,

Matt

This is the place.

I would suggest sending the designer a pm if they are a member here so they can join in the conversations if they choose to.

For me, mods should be discussed in a place where the thread is going to get the max readership by non modders. This forum tends to be popualted by modders as far as I can see. These discussions need to be on a forum where players lurk. Perhaps we have a chance then to get some of the OC players converted over to mods.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating though, so start here then review. Hopefully we will see some faces from the other forums joining in the threads and D/Ling some of our hard work and playing it.

This is a good place to discuss modules. It's the "NWN2 modules" forum, after all.

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm not a modder and I read this forum regularly.

It's true that modders post more than players here, but I think that's because a lot of the threads are news, either about the building process, or to inform of a release.

In those threads, players will only say things like: "Congratulations on the release, thanks for uploading your module", or "Hope you release it soon, I've been waiting a long time for it".

Also, specific modules are usually commented on the modules' pages on the Vault, where the authors are supposed to reply.

I can't think of a better place to post. NWN2 is awfully tight-knit, even for the more reclusive of the bunch, so don't hesitate to post any and all comments here. Someone will read them! :P

The fly in the ointment is that because this forum doesn't say NO SPOILERS people will post whatever they like and give away information about the mods, possibly lowering the enjoyment of someone playing them. As a modder who enjoys building in little surprises I find it very irksome when someone posts spoilers. I don't know that there is a better place to post about mods, but ideally I would want a forum that specifically says that spoilers are not allowed.

Hmmm… Post comments about mods in a module forum? Well… seems to make perfect sense to me. LOL

Well, it's officially the Modules Forum where modules should be discussed. As to mostly populated by module builders, I could offer that if such is so, it's our fault. So my suggestion (which I will back) is to have a thread in the General Discussion Forums that indicates that discussion of Community Made modules happens here. (I may just set up that as a Sticky.)

IN any case, if we don't want Spoilers I'll post that as well so that when it comes to discussion or review of Community Modules, we provide the same level of respect to those wishes as we would an Official Expansion thread.

Sound fair? This really is the best and most appropriate place to discuss and/or review Community Made Modules.

Agreed about spoilers, but this could also be a good place to ask if you're stuck in a module, or to get suggestions about what kind of character is good for a module, and that kind of things.

IN such a case, I would suggest that folks wishing for help post a request for SPOILER Help in their topic Title. Like this: SPOILER help: Last of the Danaan.

Once that title is up, all spoiler related assistance would go in that thread. Simple. And so forth with all other threads of that nature.

And, I will set up that sticky thread in the General Discussion Forums today and place a link to this topic so that folks will know how to properly post spoiler and non spoiler threads for Community Modules. Sound good?

Done! Sticky, Locked, Announcement!  I couldn't make Announcements on the old forums, so score one for the BSN moderation tools.  I think you'll be pleased.

Community Made "Modules Forum" is NOT: Just for Bulders!

The one module-one thread thing sounds good, hope to see more player movement around here. Thanks!

As a modder who likes to put little surprises in as well, I recognize the importance of not spoiling things. So that leaves me wondering the best format for having in-depth discussions of a module with others who have completed it, which will most likely spoil it for people who have not played.

For my thread on "sheep and stone" I put the spoiler alert in the title so I could feel free to discuss all aspects of the game. That seems like it would be acceptable to keep people from having surprises spoiled.

Thoughts?

I just figured it would be good for some to know when to expect SPOILERS and if that was explicit in the title, then they should consider that fair warning, yeah? If we keep it sort of standardized, it's going to be easier to find the spoiler threads vs ones without them. It's not a RULE that can't be broken, but I think if we observe it, it's going to make things easier on all of us in the long run.

I think that it is a good idea. I definitely plan to make it obvious if there are going to be spoilers in my threads.
