Well, I hear that they cut all relationships between consonants. It's vowels only in DA2. So my sources claim.

*grumble* Everyone else gets to spread dubious rumors and assumptions about the game, but the moment I do it...

(Not that there's anything wrong with vowel only relationships.)

Don't take it too bad.  Dubious rumors are what keep this forum going.  Posted Image

So are the "y"s getting lopped in with the consonants or the vowels?  /grammar humor Posted Image

I kind of think the mom is only a temporary companion, like lots of the people you fought with at the begining of origins. Most likely if she survives she'll settle down somewhere in kirkwall.

Mamma hawke doesn't fight she just hangs around and cowers in fear like Levi in wardens keep.

Many good story employs grief as a catalyzing motivator. If Hawke's mother doesn't die, I believe the story will be a bit drab.

I'm guessing that we'll get seven of them

Aveline: WARRIOR
Bethany: MAGE
Isabella: ROGUE
Varric: ROGUE
Carver (seen in screenshots): WARRIOR

Since the devs have stated that we'll have two of each class as a companion, and we're assuming that
1) that is not including subclasses
2) the DLC character is an exception to this rule
3) Carver/Bethany will get replacements

We'll get three more party members.

They should give you a loyal dog - or maybe a child! - and brutally kill it off. Good storytelling is all about murdering innocents the audience empathizes with.

If Hawke's mother survivies, I suspect she will get kidnapped at some point in Kirkwall and we will have to rescue her.

I'm afraid I wont be able to empathize with my companions if I'm not forced to hold their hands during missions.

I suspect Bethany will be kidnapped by darkspawn.

Sadly, we will reach there too late, and she'll have already started turning into a Broodmother. After hours of bonding with your sister, you'll have to slit her throat.

Let's see people say Dragon Age isn't dark fantasy after that!

I think who survives in Lothering may be class-based.

A warrior would find a mage more useful, thus Bethany would live. And Carver would live for a mage-Hawke. It's all for the sake of a balanced party... Don't know about the rouge, though, although I'd still say a mage would be more useful for that class, too. We have seen Bethany with a rouge-Hawke in the London Kirkwall showcase.

Have we seen Bethany with mage-hawke after Lothering?

Oh, that is an interesting concept. I often have wondered how they will regulate who lives and who dies, as well.

It's not dark unless you get a card with a naked lady on it afterward.

Except a mage wouldn't find Carver more useful than another mage if they already had Aveline, a warrior.

True, but a beginning party with two mages would be a bit awkward.

Oh, I don't know, there was that one time in the tower, when we - oh wait, you meant an adventuring party.  Never mind!

More awkward than a beginning party with two warriors? Than the three rogue's a rogue Hawke will have not far into the game?

Companions we know during early Kirkwall: Mage, Warrior, Warrior (?), Rogue, Rogue.

It made every sense to me that the choice would be Carver or Aveline, both being warriors, however a recent screenshot has disproven that. I'm pretty sure we've seen Bethany and Carver together in Kirkwall (the screenshots with Hawke running in plain clothes for starters) so as far as I can see it's either a choice between all three or a choice purely about Carver.

Seeing as how after playing the demo I just can't see Bethany being killable at the start of the game (she is the only other character to appear in Varric's exaggeration alongside Hawke amongst other things) I really do think it must be that Bioware have programmed in a way to save him since that demo was put together. I'm just not sure how they will make that decision matter if it doesn't result in the loss of another companion? Have we seen Momma Hawke and Carver both in Kirkwall? She is the one who wants to rush over to Carver first and whatnot,  I could imagine her somehow saving him in a self sacrificial gesture.

Anyway, I'm guessing there are 3 or 4 party members we don't know about yet. One will be an Elf, I just can't see Bioware not including such a popular race for no real reason.

I think besides obviously it being odd to miss out on one of the main races. We will have an Elf because doesn't Kirkwall have a fairly large alienage? I bet we will get a Elf companion who grew up in the alienage.

I know strictly in Kirkwall we've seen Carver + Bethany, Carver + Aveline, and Carver + Isabella. I don't think Mom Hawke has been seen anywhere outside of the fleeing from Lothering sequence. It could be that she dies either way.

I'm suspecting we'll have about that same amount of unshown party members. Release is still 4 months away, and that's plenty of time for several companion reveals. I do so hope we get another Dalish companion. Though I think after all of Origins, we've had more Dalish than city elves..

I want a Circle elf who has been treated fairly all their life. What happens to them once they leave the Tower is irrelevant, but I can only take so much Velanna.

if they have to kill it off I'd rather they give us a child then......I'd be sadder if the dog died than a child
