Really we should just romance every character.
Naturally, but I believe that certain characters are naturally off-limits.

Of couse. No romancing anyone that Varric sets his eyes on.
See? Limits.

How do you figure? Fan-rage already takes up a considerable amount of space. I could do without further rage....Johnny Chaos wrote...
they should take romances out of DA2, save some forum space

No! I love my video game romances. I like to contrast them with my real life romances (or lack of therof...)

Come on, say 'Yes,' BioWare.
I realize patience is a virtue, but virtues just aren't my thing. But I will try not to harass you.
Wait - Hawke kissing Isabela isn't a confirmation?

Hawke: Hurry it up, Aveline. We don't have time for your angst. Grief is so cliche.
Aveline: ...Do you mind keeping your cynicism for after I've finished mercy-killing my husband?
Hawke: Yawn. So overdone.
I'm ambivalent about whether my Hawke should do it or if I should let her. It seems kinder for Hawke to, having a loved one die is hard enough without doing it yourself. At the same time, I can't help but wonder if I'd ever not be 'that gal who killed my husband' in Aveline's mind. No, it's not rational, but these things rarely are.

Kiss does not equal romance, I guess.
Then again, knowing Isabela, a kiss is a regular goodbye.

We have two seperate examples of Isabela being kissed. I'd say she most certainly is a romance option.

But seriously, I'm all for the story determining the sexuality and romanceability of certain characters.
Therefore, I think Aveline should only be romanceable if you give her wine as a gift.
After a couple of glasses, she'd feel less guilty about her dead husband...
...Actually, I think *all* male companions should be romanceable by gay gamers if given several alcoholic gifts in rapid succession (wine, Wilhelms' Special Brew, ale, etc.).
I've always said that the difference between a heterosexual guy and a bicurious guy is a couple of beers...!

So, by your definition, we should be able to romance our sister and brother in the game, too, beyond the norms of familial love. I see.
Personally, I am rather mum about homosexual relationships, but I am not going to let personal politics invade this thread. BioWare should steer the direction of their game, not us (though we can always offer our input).

We all know thier great at thier Jobs, basically thier the "Super-Friends," but given that we're still some months away from release and the deadline ticking closer it's likely somewhat infuriating to get the same questions over and over. Yes, I get the whole argument of, "Well, then they should just answer us and we'll leave 'em alone." However, the history of this Community has shown that for every question answered, five more take it's place. So, not wanting to drive the whole writing team into a bottle of Advil (or worse) I suppose I can wait to get all the goodies. I would attempt to recommend to others to take the same route, but, I doubt it would work. So...guess I will try to excercise patience.

Doesn't it however basically confirm there's very much this "dead ex in my closet" thing going for Aveline, except it's if anything amped to eleven because it's happened very recently as opposed to few years ago?Mary Kirby wrote...

Sorry about the cynicism

I heard that Wesley gets tainted by the darkspawn, and you can either kill him or have Aveline choose his fate.
Ah... so no cheating? Pity. But at least there is the chance that Aveline is still romanceable.

You mean the kiss in a CGI trailer which so accurately and clearly conveys the nuances of a game's plot, as opposed to simply the broadest strokes of it?

Plus kissing is not definitive proof of a "romantic" relationship. Could just be a friendly hello kiss for all we know.

I'm not condoning incest, but I won't deny that--historically speaking--incest was not uncommon during the time period in which the world of Dragon Age is loosely based up. But I didn't want this to become another "please let us romance Bethany" thread!
I was merely making a lighthearted point that the game would certainly be more interesting if every companion were romanceable, and I think even you would have to agree with me on that point!
And if you don't want a homosexual relationship, don't pursue one!
