I'm putting this here in the OC forum because after giving in and doing a MotB binge over the last few days with a brand new human character, I still sort of have the itch to do the OC too. But! This question also applies to MotB companions.
I'm really wondering if any in particular tend to have companions be particularly prejudiced (at least at first) or to be particularly...uh...opposite of prejudiced when they meet you.
IE. most obvious example I can think of is a MotB companion (uh...spoiler alert I guess since it's MotB):
I can see Kaelyn being drawn to an aasimar, for instance, or suspicious of a tiefling. Does this kind of thing actually happen at all? Anybody get any strong reactions based on race (or heck...class too, if you noticed it)?
What race choices make the biggest impact on companion convos?

I'm pretty sure both campaigns are pretty light on specific dialog, in the OC Khelgar will make mention of PCs of "dark" races. Kaelyn has some additional dialog for priests of Ilmater (possibly of Kelemvor too but I never played that). Really the best way to find out is just to dig through the convos in the toolset.

Meh, it's not that big of a deal. I have no idea how to use the toolset and I'm certainly not learning just for that, lol.
But thanks for the response.

**OC spoiler**
what I really like is Neeshka's analysis of Elanee, when she says about her, "so .. she's an elf .."
the voice-acting is Perfect

Maybe my use of the word "dig" implies more effort than there actually is. All you have to do is just load the module (always work on a copy, never the original file), and browse the conversation sections. The only annoying thing is you'd have to load each module in turn and read all the convos looking for conditionals like [class],[male],[alignment], etc. It might take a while but as long as you can point and click you'll do fine.

I haven't tested it myself, but I believe certain backgrounds add some conversation options: Ladies' Man for males, and Flirt for females.
I don't think they have a lot of impact, but it's something.
Edit: I meant Flirt for females (corrected it). I was thinking about a voice set or something.

@ metatheurgist: Ah, I see. Yeah, that's not too bad. I just decided to go with a tiefling because I figured it should be one of the more controversial ones. I have already been disappointed to see that Casavir did not even blink over her heritage. Boooo.
@Arkalezth: LOL funny you mention that. I actually used "the flirt" (female version) and had a "wtf" moment with Georg that I hadn't remembered getting before. I have a screenshot at home but it's something along the lines of "The way you...uh...carry yourself some men may want to, uh...<awkward pause>"

I cannot remember any significant dialogue resulting from race in either module, sad to say. I remember hearing the most interesting commentary when playing a tiefling, though. Tieflings get several mentions. People in West Harbor will reference it a bit. It might also come up in the trial. The various fiends in Jerro's haven also throw in a comment or two.
Aasimar are mostly ignored in comparison. I think it may be because aasimar usually have an easier time passing as human than tieflings. In NWN2 in particular, we see no aasimar with exaggerated outsider traits. That said, do not expect a whole lot of extra dialogue based on race.

Tiefling or Drow. There isn't much impact either way though beyond honorable mention in a few places and a handful of amusing conversation arcs with token NPCs.

Playing a drow actually gave me a very different reaction in the OC in various places. Just in the Tutorial alone, Kipp is patently terrified of you. Of course, it didn't help that I was a Paladin that game too, combining what must be Kipp's two least favorite things. Not only was I a dark elf, but I was a goody-two-shoes as likely to smite him as look at him.
Haven't played a tiefling, so I can't comment too much on it, but my sister mentioned she had a lot of fun having people comment on the pair of tieflings running around. I do know that Kistrel has some Drow-specific dialogue though.

Does Khelgar comment on a female dwarf PC?

Quick look in the toolset shows that no, he only comments based on the PC's race. Also ran into a conversation I actually haven't seen before while looking through it.

In my experience, tiefling has the most extra comments regarding race in the OC. Neeshka, Khelgar, Shandra all make some sort of reference to it. Some NPCs make reference, such as some of the fiends in Jerro's Haven, Brelana, the guards attacking Neeshka when you first meet her, and a couple others, but nothing signifigant.
As far as MotB goes, Kaelyn mentions it when you allow her to study you, though nothing major. If you're an Aasimar, she says she can see the blood of the higher planes in you, and assumes that your purposes must be similar, but other than that, no special dialogues/cool points for such. If you're a tiefling, she assures you she holds no ill feelings because of your heritage unlike others of her kind. So no, it doesn't impact anything there, and as far as I remember, impacts little else in the game.
During the West Harbor Harvest festival at the beginning of the game, several people comment if you're a tiefling. Kipp says everyone else is afraid of you because you're a tiefling, and the Mossfelds mock you when you talk to them.

Drow get a lot as well - mainly the same sort of things you mention for tieflings. The most interesting reaction was from the guy with the enchanted pig; something along the lines of "what do you care? Do you think it will matter? Everywhere you go, people will see the face, not the hero." Pretty philosophical for a foul, old wretch.

Genasi, as far as I know there are no unique dialogues..yuan-ti..haven't tried yet..gonna test it now just for the fun of it

Were any of the conversations in former campaigns revamped to include playable races introduced in subsequent campaigns? If not, then playing as a genasi or a yuan-ti won't make much of a difference in the OC (and yuan-ti wouldn't rate a mention in MotB either).
If you play as a tiefling and bring Neeshka back to West Harbour, Georg assumes she's your wife!
