What kind of ending would you like to see for DA2?

DAO's ending was bizarrely cheerful, even if you did a whole lot of unsavory things. Like you can wipe out the circle of magi, kill all Dalish elves, make Bhelen king and leave Anora and Loghain in power and still get the happy music, sappy celebration or be honoured at your funeral. DAA's ending was bizarrely gloomy. There is no celebration even though you took out a great evil, and you get creepy music for saving the day. All this makes playing the game not worth while, since you feel no sense of achievement. I'm hoping that DA2 would give you an epic but indifferent ending. Maybe the endings from the second and third Mad Max movies is an example. In any case, I'm hoping Varric would say some great things about Hawke, without praising or judging him, and let him walk off to the sunset battle scared and emotionally hardened.

I want a super happy Hollywood ending, complete with riding off into the sunset on a black stallion; Hawke's love interest holding on tight as they vanish into the horizon. That would be followed by "The End" with a message in smaller font stating something to the effect of Hawke's story is over, she is never coming back. Never ever, ever never. That way no one will expect Hawke to return for DA3. But in a screwy twist she will, and DA3 will be a direct sequel of DA2. Except Hawke dies 1/3 of the way into the game to make room for the real protagonist a la "Phantasy Star IV". Okay, I am done. :P

Edit: My real ideal ending would be closer to "Jade Empire" or the "Fallout" games. I want to know how everything turns out and I do not mind if it is conveyed via a text epilogue; although it would be nice if it were narrated to add a touch of class. The only way I want to see an open ending is if my character chose to live an unsettled life as the Warden might in Origins. Otherwise I want no ambiguity.

Hmm... I'd say something like Babylon 5's finale, "Sleeping in Light." I have never before or since felt like crying over an episode of a TV show.

Thank you, JMS.  Guy wrote almost every single episode of a five year TV show.  If I was a writer, he'd be my personal damn hero.

The camera slowly crawls back from Hawkette, kneeling by the throne of Kirkwall. Flemeth or the Reverend Mother holds the crown out toward Hawkette's head. Suddenly, Hawkette's hands shoot up and snatch the crown free. Hawkette goes to one knee and turns toward the camera. She scream "OH YEAH!" and then comes to her feet, kicking Flemeth or the RM right in the stomach, knocking the old woman out of the shot. Isabel leans into the shot and throws Hawkette an electric guitar that Hawkette slings over her shoulder as she puts on a growly glare. Hawkette rocks out as fireworks erupt up from behind the throw and down from the ceiling. Then, as the camera slowly fades to black, Hawkette whips off her top and throws it into the crowd. The crowd goes nuts. The last thing we see is Hawkette slowly swinging her guitar around at the crowd like a machine gun, shooting fireworks out of its neck, bursts of color and flame exploding over the wildly cheering crowd's heads.

This would be awesome.

:) I'd like a definite ending too. No "Hawke mysteriously vanishes five years later..." or "future adventures await" I want "Hawke and LI married had five children and seventy years later Hawke dies of old age"

Everyone dies and the face of Gaider appears on the screen at about 50% opacity with him just laughing maniacally as the credits roll. It might feed him for a few years what with all the tears.

I don't know about the tears.  I'd just start laughing hysterically.:D

Hawke sails off in a boat with his love interest - failing that - his highest approval companion as the they exchange snarky one liners.  Or, in the evil ending, is offered a cigar by the villain and smokes it in smug triumph.

Nevermind, I've just been playing too much Alpha Protocol of late.

50 years after the end of the game Hawke's surviving companions gather to lay the recently deceased Hawke to rest with the entire city of Kirkwall as his/her funeral pyre.

An actual ending, with no future expansions or DLCs continuing Hawke´s the story and then shift PC for DA3 (something I want). Considering the game is about Hawke´s rise to power and Cassandra seems to need him/her afterwards, I doubt we´ll get everything in the main game.

This:

And when DA 3 is announced:
"What do you mean I can't play Hawke? We got no closure for his story! Yes, he *might* have been annihilated in a nuclear explosion but there were strong hints of a lead lined refrigerator in the area."

Speaking of things, could DA2 really be the end of Hawke's story? Who knows, Cassandra could actually meet Hawke after hearing Varric's story, and fight, make a deal with him or whatever.

Fortunately I don't know enough about the game to know what kind of ending that I'd like to see. IMHO that's a good thing for now :)

I want there to be no ending - at the final battle, each time you kill the boss, his magical time-control-powers activate sending you back to the beggining of the battle. You must repeat this, but each time he rewinds, the future version of himself comes too (if massively weakened) adding to the difficultly. And so Varric will never end your tale. Hawke is stuck battling for all eternity. And there is room for plenty of re-playability for the final fight! Everyone wins!

Only if the failure was my fault as the player.  No forced failure.
