Just making out with Tali...

SO...Originally I was under the assumption that you just make out with Tali
during her romance. I thought this because I remembered Tali expressing herself about all the social/intimacy restrictions the Quarian immune system brought upon her and her people. It seemed like she sad about not being able to kiss or touch anyone she cared about, without the possibility of dying or getting sick, which would make me to believe that just kissing someone she loved would be a fulfilling experience that she wanted.
I don't know…there seems to be more risk associated with having sex, rather
than just kissing...so I assumed that the romance with Tali would be the former. But after reading some topics floating around, people seem to believe that sex actually took place. Why?

Plain and simple, it's what all the people who chose Tali as a romance option want to believe. Implication or not, there's no concrete evidence that they did it, or as a counterpoint, that they did NOT do it.
Quarians and vagueness go hand in hand.
If Tali somehow had magic shepherd babies, I bet they would be one vague blur.

Actually, most people are getting this impression from her aftergame conversation, where Shepard asks her how she is feeling, if she got sick and she replies that she has a runny nose and some kind of infection, but "It was totally worth it!"
...which for a species who are incapable of being physically intimate (most of the time)...kissing would be "totally worth it."

Did you ever make out with your boyfriend/girlfriend on a bed and NOT have sex?
If so, bravo on the restraint.
On the subject of Tali, it is implied she has prepared to go that far. Herbal suppliments, immuno-boosters, implants, etc., etc.

Unlike the other romance options in ME2, this one doesn't imply having sex to me.
What about the Garrus romance? To me, that one seems like having sex would take away from it if anything.

Let me just pose one quick question to those of you that are teenagers or those of us who remember our teenage years:

Well you can't group all the teenage years together. at 15 sex was nowhere on my radar, making out was. 18+ was a different story.
As for the Tali thing, that's exactly what I was thinking. Why do all of that just to make out? She said at some point that although Quarians have weak immune systems, they aren't defenseless. The exact quote was something like "If every stray bacteria left a Quarian violently ill, there wouldn't be any of us left".
