For the M/M, I want a slightly older, experianced man, who maybe you have to go after for a while before he starts to see you as a romanceable option rather than a kid.

For the F/M I'd like a handsome nerd.

I want the exact opposite of that. Older experienced man I have to woo for F/M. Cute geek for M/M.

I would die for a Canderous type of a male LI and have been hoping for one since I played KOTOR. As much as I love Alistair, I still want someone close to his personality. Still, it seems a little unlikely that I'll get what I wish for...

I hope that the Varric fans get what they want, even though I don't think my Lady Hawke (main or any after that) will romance him. I guess it's just a race barrier for me, seeing as I never really thought about dwarves in a LI sort of a way.

Someone normal, please! Not _all people can have horrible and angsty pasts.

A Jacob without all the porn talk would do nicely.

A slightly psychopathic, badass, violent, ruggedly handsome Deadpan Snarker. Neither Dragon Age or Mass Effect had a LI like that.

As a tsundere.... I like my men intelligent enough to follow along... but stupid enough to toy with... XD

Alistair fit that perfectly... It was especially fun to be mean and make him "cry"... LoL

Why all this demand for "normal"?  Normal is nice in RL, but pretty boring in a game.

I would love somebody a bit dangerous, snarky, sexy, with an English accent.... *sigh*

Or Han Solo, that would work as well.

Seriously, I think male LIs are really difficult to do for Bioware. Most of the male players (and they are the vast majority) seem to hate them no matter what. Must be some Alpha male thing. Even a softie like Alistair gets blasted in the forums the moment he does not agree with everything the Warden does.

So, perhaps it would be a good idea if Varric was an LI. Being a dwarf, he would be much less threatening than another human NPC without having to be a total push-over.

Did someone mention Ezio?

*drool*

My dudeWarden would certainly like that. As would my ladyWarden.

Actually, I think I'm just channelling my own dirty desires through the Wardens >.<

I am pretty glad we're likely getting a dwarf, I like the chance for a non-human love interest (I was dissapointed in dao when both lady love interests were human).

I have no problem with Varric being a LI. I think a dwarf LI would be pretty cool. But a lot of people around here are talking like it's a sure thing, and I've seen no evidence of that. I'm not saying it's not going to happen, but I think the people who really want it should exercise a little more cautious optimism.

I wouldnt say that, alot of males like the comrade in arms type friendship with Alistair. I avoided Zev though.

I was thinking it might be nice to have a male mage love interest. Not necessarily Anders or even Ander-esqe, but maybe a bit more cynical and dark in demeanor with a sweet or soft hidden side. This would be interesting and would definitely be a nice fit with the Hawke family dynamic.

The way I see it, we have had "normal" people, just with issues. I'd say Jack is a character who is not normal. Thane is a character who is not normal. But Garrus, or Alistair? They seem normal enough to me--but they have issues.

The problem with Jacob's character is that he wasn't interesting. He was normal, but not interesting as a person. If Alistair never spoke about being a templar or Duncan, he'd still be dorky and charming...and altogether a "normal" guy. Excusing the, uh, species thing, Garrus without his betrayal issues and angry Cowboy Cop exterior would still be interesting.

I don't begrudge them having issues at all, but I don't think "normal" has to come at the price of personality. It also doesn't help that he's strangely surly and FemShep is strangely skanky.

I think we have had, to some extent, normal companions. Just with issues, which is fine. I don't think I know too many people who don't have some sort of issue in their life. People who take up the sort of professions and lifestyles that would make them valuable to Hawke? Moreso.

Nooo!  Cannot romance a man in a dress, just can't do it.

Unless it's a kilt.  With someone like Sean Connery in it.

That said, I got hooked by both male LIs in Origins, and a few other NPCs who weren't LIs at all, so I'm easy.  But would like to see some verification on at least one of the male LIs since we've now had Isabela shown off.

Given the design changes in DA 2, it's not a given that a male mage love interest companions would wear a robe.

Mage Hawke doesn't wear robes.

I'd like a qunari in one of those things they wear.

Because ewww, that's why not. *vomit*

well I just don't get what would be so "ewww" in dwarves---

David replied...

They are short, stocky and hairy.

And female dwarves often look like 14 year-old girls.

That said, I wouldn't mind someday writing a dwarf-dwarf romance (which was what I originally said), but otherwise? I stand by my ewww.

I have to think this was brought up in the massive Varric thread at some point considering its length, but the hirsute nature of the thread keeps me from checking.

Then again, he doesn't address whether or not Mary would relish writing erotic stories about short, stout and hairy men.

Erotic or romantic?

I'm not sure Mary is into writing erotic stories in general.

We can dream...

There's always DA3.  He said he'd find me.  There was something about a battlefield in there, but that is just backdrop for the slow-motion run!
