Saying "Cheese is horrible and should be removed from the market. There's no argument for it." is a lot different than saying "In my opinion, Cheese is horrible and should be removed from the market".

Actually, funny story. The confirmation bias we were discussing earlier? You only pay attention to information that confirms what you already believe or think, so for some people, they only read what makes them happy, and filter out the rest.

But I digress.

Oh I should have used that argument against the guy who was dissing the role of romance in Bioware games in another thread and advocating cutting them out because he couldn't understand their relevance.

$800? Again, where are you getting these numbers?

I'd suspect Microsoft of running a long-term disinformation campaign about gaming PC requirements, except that I think games are one of the few ways they have left to fight off netbooks and Google Everything.

I don't *mind* the idea of signature weapons but Mike specifically said that we could change companion's weapons. In my, totally biased, estimation, this dude didn't know squat about jack, and so we should go by the word of the Lead Designer.

I never suggested you have an anti-BioWare agenda. Some of our biggest fans have agendas you could carve a mountain tunnel through. Just own up to it, that's all. Just because it's the internet doesn't mean people should ignore basic rules of communication.

Any criticism can be traced back to a players apparent agenda. At least according to your logic. Thier agenda might be that they think your teams decisions were bad and to steer you to change them. Others might be to encourage your current route. Either way, no matter what they say, you're going to percieve some kind of agenda. But hey, i guess some agendas are easier to allow than others right?

Hmm... fair point maybe.  Still, then everyone would have an agenda, right?  I mean if I have a "hey I am an old-school RPG dude who likes depth and tactics" agenda then someone else might have a "hey I wish I could just sit back and relax and hack people to death while I enjoy your dialog" agenda.  It's all just opinion in the end, and of course I... lobby... for my personal priorities and preferences.

I don't think I twist anything though... I mean, IS there a gameplay reason to take away our ability to change the companion clothing?  I can't think of one.  In ME2 it was part of the streamlining but given all the other equipment on them in DA2 we CAN change I am assuming it's all about keeping their look the same.

Anyway, if you want to call it an agenda then so be it, but in the end all I am doing it getting on these forums and advocating for my preferences when it comes to RPGs.  If I sound frustrated at times it's because I am frustrated, my kind of gaming is dying.

"Yeah. Varric right here – I forget the name of the weapon – has this badass crossbow that's really really cool. That's his signature weapon that he uses throughout. It's still that kind of Medieval themed though, with swords, axes and that kind of thing. People really identify with and love that universe, so we'll do our swords and shields here, and then we have our Mass Effect for the laser blasters and so on."

Yep, looks like, in addition to having static armor, companions will also have static weapons.  Really, I'm wondering if its time to just drop the illusions that this is going to be anything like a party based game.  I've honestly ceased to care about the party in this game at all, and am hoping to do my first run solo (if BioWare doesn't force us to bring party members along, and someone doesn't figure out how to hack the game) Considering that loot is exclusively for Hawke, its likely we'll be seeing a slightly refined version of the ME2 system for Hawke, with inventory being rare, and mostly cosmetic, and all the real numbers being handled by the rune system

And it also looks as if console gameplay is being dumbed down to the point where I could play it in my sleep.  Lets hope "Santa" is in the mood to give me a shinny new laptop this year, 'cause there's no way in hell I'm upgrading my current computer to support DAII, and pretty much no chance I'm gonna buy the piece of Hack and Slash trash that most reviewers make the console game out to be, and honestly, considering that BioWare is clearly exaggerating the differences between PC, and console gameplay, it might end up being just a "rent for console, play until rent expires, then go back to WoW until Diablo III comes out" game.

Funny thing - it's the same exact engine, so there's really no need to upgrade your computer if it ran DA:O just fine, but yes, life is unfair because DA2 isn't exactly the same as DA:O. Companions have their assorted accessory slots, and there is already a thread devoted to the issue of companion armor (and accessory slots/inventory). Loot is obviously not exclusively for Hawke if companions can still equip rings, belts and necklaces - unless they just don't count all of a sudden.

It's interesting that you complain about DA2's lack of complexity and bring up WoW. All I can do is kek at that one. I play WoW and have seen how Blizzard has simplified things for people more and more over time (including tier gear being the same in Cataclysm in 10-man or 20-man raids). I don't really care about it myself, but considering the standards you seem to be holding DA2 to, I'm surprised that you aren't raging over how things have been "dumbed down" in WoW (which  isn't exactly a shining example of a deep, complex or rich RPG in any case).

Of course, what typically happens when you play the "depth and tactics" card is that someone declares your example of a good game has all the depth of rock-paper-scissors, except without rocks. Not only do these things always come down to personal preferences, we can't even agree on how to describe the things we're talking about.

I don't think I twist anything though... I mean, IS there a gameplay reason to take away our ability to change the companion clothing?  I can't think of one.

It's boring?

I'm not quite being facetious here. My personal quixotic Bio lobbying campaign was asking them to yank inventory from KotOR. Double quixotic since that would have been against the D20 system they licensed. Though that was less about gameplay -- I find inventory management uninteresting but not actually repellent -- and more about it not fitting the gameworld very well. Double that objection for ME, but since Bio fixed that in the sequel I can't complain.

Even simplified, WoW is far more complex. I wouldn't say that it's storytelling or character are particularly deep or compelling, but its gameplay is quite complex.

Just because we cant custumize our companions, doesnt mean the game itself will suck. Planescape Torment anyone?

I am wondering about the signature weapons though. By the looks of things, Isabella uses 2 daggers. Does this mean we can only give her different daggers? Or can we give her a sword + a dagger? Or two axes maybe? It would be very limiting if we could just swap her daggers with other daggers.

Very true.

To dial my comments in this thread back a bit I never said the game will suck because of this, or that I am now boycotting the game or something silly like that.  I just said it was a cosmetic decision, and I can't see how it could be anything else.

It doesn't mean the game is ruined.

I remember a DEV once saying that DEVS here have no reason to lie, but this thread makes me wonder. The OP has a statement from a DEV saying that one character will use one weapon throughout the whole game, but Gaider is saying the opposite. So which one is it?
