I bought NWN way back as a preoder and didn't get to play it much, now I wanted to give it a second try and I can't join any multiplayer games it says that my CD Key is Unautorized ?!?

Yes I have all 3 games and keys.
Yes they are all correct and in the correct place.

I had all the keys registered in the old Bioware forums on my account, and they worked before.. what do I need to do to get my multiplayer back.. and am I going to have to do that same for the wifes install if she wants to try it again with me?

This is pretty upsetting for a game I didn't play due to all the problems, and here I am still having problems :(

Please Help Obsidian, or Bioware, or Atari.. or somebody :(

4 days later....looks like nobody is going to help, eh? That's encouraging, I just made a thread about the exact same issue.

This is unbelievable.

I haven't played this thing online either for a few years too. I couldn't remember my account name so created a new one. Now I can play onlne with no problem.

Have you tried creating a new account?

Have you tried creating a new account?

However - not sure how I authorise the account - had no emails from them yet...

Have you tried creating an account in the game?

I just bought NWN2: Platinum from steam and am getting a similar if not identical error. It first popped up when I tried to create a new account.

The error was:

Error: Your CD Key is unregistered. Please visit

http://www.atari.com/us/support

I went there, found nothing. I figured I needed a login so I went to the nwn2forums.bioware.com site which I believe is where I made my old NWN2 account years ago. I created an account there, put my CD keys in. My steam copy is still saying the same thing. How in the heck are we supposed to play multiplayer with this version of the game?

Hey everybody,

Think I have some kind of similar problem?

I just bought NWN2 Deluxe. (NWN2/MotB/SoZ/MoW)
Everytime I try to "connect" to a Persistant World in gamespy I get the message:
"connection error:your CDkey is not authorized"
I've registered all my CD keys at:http://accounts.bioware.com/my_account/nwn2cdkey.html
and my nwncdkey.ini:
[CDKEY}

key1=NWN2.......key2=MotB..........key3=SoZ...........
Been checking all over.

Please help...

Just to follow up I was able to solve my problem by creating the nwncdkey.ini file For some reason steam did not make one for me. I used notepad and made the file. It looks something like this

[CDKEY]

Key1=OC-KEY

Key2=MotB-KEY

Key3=SoZ-Key

Very similar to what EOTS posted but it solved my problem.

I'm not using to steam to play, I installed from the original disks. My keys worked to install the games, but I also get the same error when I try to log into a server. Should I have a "nwncdkey.ini" file somewhere on my computer? I tried searching for that file, but nothing was found. If I was to create one in which subfolder would I place it?
Thanks.

Maybe you guys should check with steam and they can get answers about the cd keys supplied to you all.

This solution works, even for Windows 7. Make sure that when you do it, you type it exactly the way crimnwn2 has it. Also, type everything in by hand. For some reason copy/pasting your keys from Steam messes it up. I have no idea why. You may have to c/p into a seperate text file so that you can view the whole keys.
