Downloaded DAO from Impulse and when I tried to install the toolset, I got the error "Dragon Age: Origins game install not found"
Have tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling, all failing.
Any ideas would be helpful.

Same Problem. But mine is Vista.
I actually contacted EA's Customer Support. You know what they told me? That it was a game mechanics issue. Bull.
Anyway, I've made sure to edit the registry so that the CD-key shows up in the config utility but the tool set still won't install. Can anyone shed any light here?

There has got to be a specific location it is looking for. Are both of you using a downloaded version either from Steam or Impulse?

PyrateKing, did you get it to work?

Posté 28 décembre 2010 - 09:06
I did.
GOT IT!
1) Check where the path is in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\\\\\\\SOFTWARE\\\\\\\\BioWare\\\\\\\\Dragon Age, Path
---> pointed it to my install location.
2) Ran DAO from start menu as administrator
3) Ran configuration utility ---> and saved.
4) Ran Toolset install as admin.... started working!

I was having the same issue today.
I fixed it by going to
Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age ultimate edition\\bin_ship
Ran the DAOriginsConfig.exe as Admin and saved the settings.
Ran toolset as admin.

He said that you should check your registry on your computer and check so it point to the correct install dir.
You do this by pressing (windows button + R) ie Run program.
Type in "regedit" and run it.
check the path he mention, and see if it matches your install if it doesn't change it.
The rest is quite straight forward.

1. Open the Start menu.
2a. Follow the "2" line of instructions for Windows XP
2b. Click Run.
2c. Type "regedit" into the Run dialogue box. Click Open.
3a. Follow the "3" line of instructions for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
3b. Type "regedit.exe" into the Search box.
3c. Right click the regedit entry that shows up in the search box and choose Run as Administrator.
4. Follow the hierarchy of nested folders on the right side to find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Bioware/Dragon Age. Click on the Dragon Age folder when you find it to see its contents on the right.
5. On the right, you should see an icon called Path. If you don't see this entry, create it by right clicking blank space in the right hand pane, then click New->String Value. Name the new string value "Path."
6. Set the value of the "Path" string to the installation directory where DA Origins is installed.
7. Close regedit.
8. Open My Computer on Windows XP or Computer on Windows Vista and 7. Navigate to your DA Origins installation directory. Open the bin_ship folder located inside the installation directory.
9. Find the file called DAOriginsConfig.exe. Run it if on Windows XP, or if on Windows Vista or 7, right click it and click Run as Administrator.
10. The DA Origins settings utility will open. You don't have to change any settings. Just click on the Dragon Age: Origins menu at the top, and click Save Settings. Then close the window.
You should be set to install the toolset after this.

What are the "line of instructions" richmix mentions? Also when i check under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE i cant find the bioware tag, is there any specific reason for this?

You must first click on SOFTWARE then map WOW(withsomenumbers) and then you can find your BIOWARE folder. If Dragon Age isn't there (like in my case): Got to the launcher, configure and press 'save settings'. Then go back to regedit and then you can find your bioware folder.

thanks richmix. and guys. However, only problem is: my path IS on correct value, set to correct install directory... ive done all the steps, and it still refuses to find it. I don't know whether it's coz ive got the toolset in the wrong place when I'm running it but i can't think of what elseim doing wrong. Also- Mine is installed to an external hardrive, if that makes a difference.
