Playing MotB, act 1. I just left the Veil for the first time, about to talk to the witches about the bear's spirit army. However, as soon as I step outside, all of the NPCs in the area (with possible exception of the Witches, though that's hard to tell since I only see them within a cutscene) are hostile towards me and some even towards each other - there are commoner bodies all over the place. This INCLUDES the two animal-people who want me to look for their sister.
How the heck did this happen? More importantly, how do I fix it?
Before anyone asks, I deleted all .hak packs from an online server I was checking out and my override folder is empty. I also tried a suicide-respawn idea that didn't work.
Horrible Bug - Help!

Did you somehow kill or attack another member of the Commoner Faction? That might make all other Commoners in the game hostile towards you.

Nope. Finished the quest in the Veil, came out, and immediately they start attacking me (they stop just long enough for the cutscene to run its course, and then are back at it the moment the Witches vanish). I assumed initially it was my own faction that was causing the problem, except for two details that mystify me: the dead commoners in the marketplace, which makes me think it's a global faction problem that would cause one faction to turn on the other, and the fact that there are quest-related NPCs attacking me as well, which I would hope wouldn't be inclined to attack me just by virtue of pre-emptive scripting (though that's not necessarily a sure thing in any game... Haha)

What if anything do you have in your override folder?? What mods if any are you using??
Suggest clearing any mods if any and reloading last save.

Nothing in the override, and just to be sure I made a new empty folder. Only mod I have is a character creator which I downloaded only after the problem arose. Now, I've decided to just start over, since I wasn't *that* far into the game anyways. However, it could happen again, so if anyone can offer a solution, I'm still grateful
