I like the idea of multiple PC for a future dragon age title. Kinda like how they did it in Suikoden 3, or basically any fantasy novel nowadays. That way we might dwarf pc and an elf PC that really delve into their culture/history, etc. I dont really see a dwarf only PC game getting the go-ahead. I'd imagine that would be met with strong objections from Bioware's marketing/sales department.

Oh, the irony. <_< I don't hate complaints in general, especially when it's one itty bitty post by me about stuff I dislike.
Also, I don't think anyone ever underlined and italicized one of my posts. I feel flattered.

I played a noble human too, after I finished playing my Casteless dwarf. Because I had the option to play both. Now I don't. That makes me sad.
Still, Heather does a much better job at selling the game that all those marketing suits. At least I can sit through the whole interview without being repulsed by hot rod samurais and spartan generals.

One thing I will always appreciate with the BioWare people (at least, the team responsible for the DA franchise) is that you can tell they really do read the forums and fan feedback. I don't think I've ever seen Heather post, but she was still aware about the concern some people have about the conversation wheel being considered a "dumbing down".
Plus, the whole t-shirt with a high waisted skirt and belt? The gay in me approves.
I just dont see how 'dumbing down' applies to the dialogue wheel. Sure, you might not like it, but 'dumbing down'? I just dont see it. Anyways, I hate phrases like 'dumbing down' and 'streamlined' and 'dragon effect'. Explain why you dont like a certain feature, dont resort to negative phrases that really dont mean anything. I blame cable news for trying to validate that as a suitable way to argue your point (pet peeve, dont sue me).

That sounds like a pretty cool idea. If they reduced the total amount of party members slightly but let you choose one of the companions that becomes your PC, it would save on the work while still giving you the option to choose your character and your goals.
I'd imagine that would be met with strong objections from Bioware's marketing/sales department.
I'd imagine Bioware needs a better marketing department then. Honestly marketing should be selling the product you designed, not designing for you. If they can't make a dwarf PC look good they should be fired.

Oh
and I'm inclined to agree with you (I don't think it's a dumbing down
at all-- I'm really excited for the change, and am eager to hear the
Hawke voices); I was just mentioning that it's admirable that she's
aware of what the negative perception of the change is. Kudos to her
for having had some homework down. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/smile.png[/smilie]

Sorry, i wasnt trying to imply that you felt that way. I just saw 'dumbing down' in there and felt like I needed to rant a little

Oh I meant that I quite literally never felt the compulsion to take a non-human past Ostagar.
See I'm the opposite I never felt the compulsion to play a human past Ostagar. Normal Humans are Normal and well boring.
That being said, I'm more about promoting a voiced protagonist than taking away multiple origins for players who do enjoy them, it's a question of priorities for me as I'd rather have the former than the latter. Both wouldn't upset me.
I'd prefer having more character options as opposed to a voiced protagonist, I read faster than they talk any ways so I tune out the voice half the time.
If we had reduced options but still the choice between human/elf/dwarf I would have been fine with it, even with VO recycling.

There's a difference between updating graphics and completely changing a style, eh?
Same thing applies to combat - improve (!=) reinvent.
Generally engine restrictions cause a need for shortcuts in that department. Changing the art style can be a detour from just upping the graphical detail. As it can be better for engine optimization.
Doesn't help though that the design of much of the art still sucks this time around, but for different reasons.

I dont agree with that. No matter how good a marketing campaign is, if the customer doesnt like the game's basic premise he probably isnt going to buy it.
"I have to play as a dwarf!?! Screw that, im not buying it"
is what i imagine a number of people's thoughts would be if they heard that bioware was making a dwarf pc only game.
Out of curiousity, is there any games that force you to play a dwarf the whole time?

Nope, all gravy! Text based communication isn't always the best way in conveying ideas (or just innately breeds contempt and ill feelings-- it's an ongoing investigation), and I absolutely understand the knee-jerk reaction to seeing "dumbing down" in relation to a game that no one has spent longer than ten minutes with.
OT: I do hope we get to see/hear more of Heather in the future; she seems like such a genuinely nice person.

Tho I never get the 'I accidently hit on Zevran' thing. Zevrans flirt options were all so obvious. And he was very easy to dissuade. Am I the only one who thought he was the one they clearly went out of their way to not be able to accidently romance?
You're not the only one, but I've seen guys on the forum complaining that they managed to ninja romance him right up to the sex scene, so I guess anything is possible.
Really, the only i way I see it being possible is people loading and reloading to try to get maximum approval, and skipping over dialog. Especially the sex scene.
Leliana actually has a bug that makes her ninja romance everyone with a certain conversation choice, yet you don't get nearly the venom as you did with Zevran, who actually confirmed it every time you went to start the romance. Of course, you didn't get as much approval from him if you don't start it...
