oh crap nooooooooooooooo no baby sitting emotionally defunct elves *crys*

Looking that he is emotianally broken doesn't have to mean that he goes all emo on your ass. I've also seen people who had emotinial trouble with bad tempers, or becoming extremly reckless.

Or he just may be emotionally dead.  Perhaps a better way to phrase that is IF he is an Arlathan survivor, he'd have experienced so much in that time and reached a point where it takes a hell of a lot to get through to him.

Has there yet been a character who hasn't overcome their weaknesses with a little nudging and a sidequest?

immortal in the sense that he doesn't age, he can be killed even if he is "immortal"

Well then he would be part immortal.
Then he's just ageless. But if he would be sick of that life, why wouldn't he kill himself? Unless he can't for some reason.

maybe the tattoos are for that, a magic bond that prevents him to take his own life.

^This

Just take Bishop as an example (I know he is by Obsidian) he was a mean, sadistic, jerk but when you began romancing him (the unfinished one) he eventually opened up and revealed some really heavy emotionel baggage, I felt so sorry for him after the final dialogue with him.

I hope that Meg is a little like Bishop, but not as damaged as him (Bishop was practically broken beyond repair) and without some inevitable betrayal.

That...Makes sense.
Maybe it's a bond like Witherfang and Zathrian?
He can't die unless the other one dies or something...
But if CAN die, then maybe he is bound to something else instead of a living thing, maybe something in the Fade?

I don't think Meg will actually be immortal, it just wouldn't work with the lore. Or at least how I interpreted it.

would explain his lack of armor if he's a warrior.

he wouldn't die but in DA games you don't die, you get unconscious and injured.

in DA, death only occurs by plot progression

Yep, I don't know if you can kill followers. But with the rivalry system that seems unlikly.
And even if you could, well they would write it so that he can not be killed. And even if you tried, he probably get back up and leave the party.

DeviantART MEG group is now live!!!  (barely)

Click on the link above, then join group.  When joining, write that you're a forumite or whatever so I know you're not a spambot or creepster or anything.

I'm new to admining a dA group, so if you come across any problems when submitting, navigating, etc, let me know.  I'll play around with it when I have more time and polish it up.  It's pretty bare bones right now.

I would rather not see agelessness/immortality, because it's extremely difficult to guess what kind of perspective someone older than the average human lifespan might have, as there is no reference of it. I would think someone very old but with no health problems and full use of their body would have a kind of enlightenment that no one in the real world could have. But so far I've seen... well, Zathrian, and I found him headdesk-ingly short-sighted. Maybe I'm misjudging Zathrian's character but I want to throw him into a ditch just about every time I see him.

So, um, I'll pass on the immortality/eternal youth/cannot-die themes.

fair enough, though i still think an ageless slave assassin who "kills" his emotions to cope with his unending hell would be interesting, and then we have hawke who could free him by encouraging him to live on or freeing him by putting him to rest.

Until we get to know him, it's just speculation.
We already had multiple theories and we probably have dozens more before his character has been released and we figure ou we've been wrong all along.

...Aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves, guessing his personality?

Everyone thought that Thane would be this totally badass, suave kind of upperclass cutthroat womanizer paradox bad boy.

But he's just a badass, philosophical, calm, slick kind of guy with a lot of baggage to work out. One that I thoroughly enjoyed, mind you, but I seem to remember a lot of people totally freaking out that he was that way, especially during his flashbacks...

it's all just in good fun, i don't think anyone here actually thinks they can predict with pinpoint accuracy a party member's personality...except if it's varric

:D Derpicorn has that effect.

And there's nothing wrong with Wild Mass Guessing® about Meg's personality - I don't think anybody's taking it too seriously just yet. :)
