Well, if you got to talk to Loghain before the Ostagar battle he talked about Marric, a little bit, though not about how he died or anything.

The books don't compare to the romances in the game, as the player has no input in the scene and it has to play out with certain events.

Or having Alistair go all martyr and US himself?

Optional, else we could bring up about every other romance in every other Bioware game that has an optional tragedy and say the writer always does it. No?

Or how Morrigan ditches the PC without a word at Origins' end?

Youtube or it didn't happen.  You know that by fantasy convention, if you don't personally hack the corpse into pieces and burn it, he could come back.

I think the truth of the matter is that Maric didn't die at sea etc. etc. aliens live in Ferelden and stuff, too.

I kind of don't think he should be romanceable but wouldn't complain if he was. Though he'd be old, in his 40s, maybe 50s by the time of DA 2. Not that that would stop anyone.

Too lazy to dig it up but DG said Maric is dead and not coming back, ever.

That right there is a "Dalish Flemeth". He is a non-demonic fade spirit "abomination" . Like Flemeth, but instead of a demon he is merged with something more akin to the Forest Spirit.  He is a magi monk that fights bare handed.

Lol, Leonia. I am kidding. It's a joke to ask if someone if romanceable nowadays. 

Not sure I want to marry a waterlogged, rotting, smelly corpse. Especially if he lacks that lustrous, long, blonde hair. Now that's just a no-go.
