Not saying he's tall, I'm wondering if it's a possibility that he'll be taller than your average elf.
Also, look at the concept art - I spy stubble or some very, very suspect shadowing.
It is shadowing and tatoos. No stubble.
And I don't think anything has been said about the physical appearance of Arlathan elves.

Would Arlathan elves differ (physically) from city or dalish elves? This could explain away the stubble, and also give room for him to be taller than, say, Zevran.
Nothing against elves or dwarves, but if Varric *and* mystery-elf are both LIs than I cry pixelated tears for LadyHawke's cricked neck. I have a vertical fetish that only a qunari can satisfy.
Since when is he tall? And since when does he have stubble?
Well I am a fan of the D&D elves. So if the old elves of Arlathan were actually sort of high elves, as in as large or larger than humans I wouldn't protest. I never liked the concept that elves have to be smaller than humans. If you look at it, it makes no sense anyway. Humans don't all have the same size. Some are 7 ft. high, some are 5. Why make size differences in the game and equalizing humans to all be 6 ft tall, even regardless to gender?

Why are you so confident there isn't a nonhuman female that hasn't been revealed? Mass Effect has Liara and Tali - sure, it's a different game, but it does mean Bioware isn't against the idea or anything.

I said maybe this elf is not a mage, but in being an elf, he might have some sort of elvish magic inherent to him.
Then he'd be a mage, wouldn't he?But in all honesty, I'm only saying all that because people don't like the Antivan Crow idea. I still believe he's one of the Crows.
I don't think he is a crow.
Fine. What do you think he is, then? Let's hear your theory. Why does he have glowing blue markings all over him, and why does he have black feathers stitched into his clothing?

Mh no? They made elves smaller than humans, If they made them same size and just the females smaller than the males it would be the same amount of ressources.

I just hope he's a magic user. I don't trust DG's "He's not a mage" comment at face value.
[Edit] @Herr - still looks like stubble to me on his upperlip.

I'm thinking more of an isolated settlement of elves a la Haven.
But mostly, I don't think he is a crow because Gaider wrote a crow elf for DAO.

Swashbuckler ain't rogues? I don't know why DG should lie about that.

BW is all about minorities for some reason, so they screw with the male fanbase

From what I understand they all have unique class designations. You can equate Isabella to a rogue-like class, but her official title is a swashbuckler. Or am I wrong? (I could be wrongAlexXIV wrote...

I'm just trying to get around DG's comment, really, as I normally play a warrior or rogue, and DA:O left me in need of a hot male mage for my party.

Swashbuckler is a sub-class of rogue.

Well in my understanding rogue is the headline for all kinds of light armored non-magic dps. That would be thieves, swashbucklers, archers, rangers, bards, etc. I think we still have 3 base classes, mage, rogue and warrior.

That's exactly what I was thinking. He's not technically a mage, but the glowing lines allude to some sort of magic. So maybe he's a whatever the term in Arlathan is for mage. Still a magic user, but not technically a mage.

He could be a a rogue or warrior with a mage subclass. Like Arcane Warrior for mages, or Sprit Warrior for warriors or something like Shadow or Bard for rogues.

I need to brush up on my codex reading, though, as I know diddly on the history of Arlathan. An immortal LI would be interesting, assuming that is what he is. I wonder if twu wuv would allow him to renounce his immortality a la Arwen in LoTR (

I must say I didn't like the elven females in DA:O much. Even the males looked better than the females. It is of course just my opinion, but aside from their ears they didn't seem to have alot of elven features for me.

Oh, come on. Alistair went all glowy when he used Templar powers, and he definitely wasn't a mage. Shale glowed--she was powered by lyrium, sure, but she wasn't a mage.
More things glow in DA than just spell casters.
