Probably, which is kinda sad, because I definitely dig his design.BrotherWarth wrote...
I'd be willing to bet that the final design for this guy looks as much like that artwork as Wynne looked like her early artwork. He'll probably be a rogue with stylized armor, but no feathers, no glowing tattoos and no facial hair.
Hellooo sexy elf-man, who are *you*? (You are Fenris! Hooray for you!)

But before anyone calls me on it, I'd like to say that I recognize that asking for a f/f romance is just as idiosyncratic as asking for an elven female romance.
It's just fun to tease him.

Sigh, another twink.
Indeed, after Zevran I'm hoping the male/male love interest is far less twinky this time, we need a tall, dark, rugged handsome sort to get into the tent this time

Of course, that doesn't explain his glowy tattoos. I'm still trying to come up with something there.

I have to be honest though, while I am excited about the possibility of this guy, it makes me upset that we are stuck to playing only humans. I'd be much happier if I could make and elf to romance Meg (if possible). No, I'm not a fantasy racist, I have a problem with the height difference. I'm really tall in IRL, and it's always felt awkward for me to have dudes shorter than me. I pray elves are a bit taller this time around..... *admits she's totally shallow*

He could be an Orlesian bard. Or
let's just say Orlesian (since I don't think there would be that
specific of a repeat). If you played an elven Warden, Leliana says that
elves are somewhat respected and many are richer (and thus fancier) than
humans in Orlais. Combine that with what we know of the wacky Orlesian
fashions, and we get a pretty boy elf in weird armor.

From what I gather, Orlesians are pretty big on shoes as well as eccentric clothes. And I don't remember ever hearing about elves in Orlais being richer and better treated than humans. I think Fiona in particular would argue that that isn't the case at all. His darker skin may imply he is from Antiva or Rivain or some other place from the north, however.

Are elves from Rivain dark too? Or is it just humans?

The elf that helps Anders in Awakening is from Rivain, I think, and she has darker skin. Or maybe she was Nevarran? I can't really remember but remember, Thedas is in the southern hemisphere so the further north you go, the closer you get to the equator and the more tropical the climate. I'm not sure if that applies to both human and elven skin tone, but I don't see why it wouldn't affect them both.
EDIT: Ok, apparently Namaya doesn't have an entry on the Wiki, now I'm going to have to go find a save file to satisfy my curiousity on her nationality.

One of them wore live birds in her hair. Another massaged, and probably did more with, lepers. It doesn't seem too out of place for them to randomly decide that almost barefoot is what's "in".
And, as I said, if you play an elven Warden, Leliana will mention that while elves in Orlais still mostly occupy servile positions, they are greatly desired. They are appreciated for a variety of reasons, and actually end up making more money than a lot of humans.
I'm not really familiar with Fiona, however. I'm basing everything on a single conversation.

I wouldn't read too much into the barefoot thing. It *is* concept art. and Priestly said that he doesn't look exactly like the concept art. I'm guessing he'll have shoes.

I'm sure he will, too. But there has to be a concept to have concept art, which means there's probably at least a tentative reason for most of the design. Even if said reasons get dropped and the design is vastly changed, which is likely, there was still a reason in the first place. Unless they just decided to do it all by Rule of Cool. I guess that's also a possibility.

The only reason not to kill him inmediately would be to learn something about his contractors, then kill him.

Elven servants sometimes do better than human servants.
I think Fiona in particular would argue that that isn't the case at all.
I don't think she'd make that argument. She was enslaved and sexually abused by an Orlesian Count, but we also met a human woman who was raped by a chevalier. It seems to be less about humans oppressing elves as it is nobility getting to do whatever they want to whomever they want.

Just like there's no rational reason to hang around Ferelden gathering treaties when you could go across the border, get a bunch of the experienced Grey Wardens there, and then tackle the treaties with several groups instead of one whose very likely destruction would leave Ferelden doomed and the Grey Warden's ignorant of whether there' a Blight or not.
The PC isn't much of a rational agent to begin with. Why start after being attacked by assassins?
leonia42 wrote...
Fair enough, Maria. I guess the rift between aristocracy and the "lesser" classes is more obvious in Orlais than say in Ferelden.
Gah. You would just agree with me.
I'm on to you leonia. Don't think you've fooled me for one moment!
