NPC as in Non Playable Character right? Sorry for my ignorance but NPC to me means characters in the game that play a vital role, but you do not get to control or play as them in your party. Is that what Varric and MEG are? Or does NPC in this thread refer to any character other than Hawke?

NPC in all games refers to every character, other than ones you have direct control of.

Usually NPC applies to any character other than the one you created. But this thread is nothing but maddness anyway, so who knows.

I remember as a kid reading through instruction manuals and the characters were divided up into NPC's and PC's. PC's being the ones that you could recruit and play, and NPC's being like the King and Queen etc. But if the lingo has changed thats cool. NPC means other than Hawke. Got it.

Actually he's probably a Dalish elf mage just because they said he wasn't. Remember when Isabela was first seen and people thought she was Isabela the devs were all like "C'mon guys not every pirate woman has to be Isabela" and then they were like "It's Isabela." They're tricky like that....

they didn't outright say she wasn't isabela, just that not every pirate woman has to be isabela.

on this case though...david gaider was very explicit on him not being a dalish or a mage.

That is because it is a win either way for them.  If they ruin our dreams by giving information, it will cause sweet fanrage and tears of anguish.  If they don't tell us anything, it still causes fanrage and tears of frustration (which are also very sweet).  YOU CANNOT WIN

True... so it could technically still be Pol, the city elf runaway who joined the Warden's clan.  He's not technically Dalish right?
