Hi,
Well basically each an every time I try to start ME from the menu screen i.e. the thing with Play, Uninstall, Website, etc. It crashes and Windows states "Mass Effect has stopped working".
Now the game is patched to 1.02. I have the latest drivers for my GFX card (10.2 Legacy for DirectX 9 cards) and my Realtek HD Audio (2.54). Windows is also patched upto date. The Windows Firewall is set to let it run. I can also report that this system did play Mass Effect when it first came out (I have only just got around to sitting down and playing it all the way through).
I have the UK DVD Version and my system is:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400
MSi K9A Platinum
2GB DDR2 6400
X1950XTX 512MB PCI-E
Any help you can provide would be appreciated, as I have not played the game yet and I would like too. Do you think skipping back to older drivers might make it work?
Thanks.
ME1 Crashes when I try to start the game.

I have just got it running... well sort of. I have under compatibility mode made it run in XP SP3 mode and with Admin priviledges. But it is running slow and clunky

A quick google search brought back a few results on ME and multicore AMD & Win7 related crashes. I suggest you check them out to see if any of the suggested fixes/workarounds help.

Cheers, I am running Vista Ultimate 64, but Vista and 7 are pratically identical apart from GUI and name. I will have a look.
I am currently using older drivers for my GFX card, it has fixed things for the most part. But the game plays up (graphics slow down while audio play a head) and it crashes frequently
