Well here is yet another preview, this time from OXM.

In a shocking revelation, it would seem that Varric has shapeshifted into Oghren, as Oghren is now Hawke's trusty narrator. Enjoy the Oghren romance, ladies!

After taking out the requisite ogre (with a suspicious amount of ease), we discover a massive dragon breathing directly down our necks. And  then Oghren, the narrator, cuts in to tell us what really happened.

Oh, and apparently, Da2 is still early on in development, you know, 3 months until release:

Though some of the original game's more hardcore fans may bemoan the  easing up of the learning curve, we appreciate the changes. Dragon Age  II is still early in development, but we have a hunch that these tweaks  will keep its pace snappy for fans and newcomers alike.

So when people talk about consoles being dumbed down, I guess they're talking about the magazines.

I've never seen so many blatant slip-ups in advertising as I have with DA2. It's just crazy, and the people at Bioware appear to be perfectly comfortable with it.

I know I can be critical of their games and design philosophy, but the fact is, Bioware is still one of my favorite devs and I worry they are seriously shooting themselves in the foot here. They need to get a good review in a reputable magazine, not one that apparently hires highschool students to write their articles.

Okay, these have to be jokes now, right? I mean, this can't be real . . .can it?

A very similar selection of mistakes relating to lore, characters, and game mechanics have been seen in previews and magazine articles relating to Guild Wars 2.

It seems to be something you simply have to accept when it comes to most previews. Especially where magazines are involved, it seems.

No it doesn't. I've see no such mistakes in ads for D3, TW2, or Deus Ex. But again, Bioware is perfectly okay with the inaccuracies. Seems to be their angle in marketing this time around.

What, another previewer that can't take a few moments to do a bit of research? Inconceivable. And here I am unemployed. *goes to apply for reviewer/previewer position*

Guys, this is a magazine about the Xbox; we're just lucky that some thirteen year old didn't call Hawke a string of pejoratives and then immediately leave.

For the record, I own and moderately enjoy an Xbox 360.

The standard of journalism in the games industry is, at times, shocking. I mean that makes some of the other poorly researched previews look glorious. And they only seem to have played the really old demo that everyone else reported about ages ago?

Marketing really need to start slapping these previewers who get things wrong.

Edit: And no, just because it is a console/xbox magazine does not excuse lazy article writing. Nintendo games are often aimed at kids but I don't remember the Official Nintendo magazine being filled with inaccuracies of this nature when I was younger?

I get what you're saying, but the guy who wrote this isn't a 13 year old.  Neither is the editor of this magazine.  Adults with jobs should do them correctly, even if they ARE writing for idiot 13 year olds.

Note - I do not mean to imply that all 13 year olds are idiots, but . . .well, some sure are.

Note 2 - I own - and greatly enjoy - an XBOX360.

Note 3 - I am well above 13 years old.

Whats scary is that its these same previewers/reviewers/magazines/websites which offer up their review scores and apparently BioWare takes them to heart when making changes and such.

Ugh.

How is Bioware not responsible for some level of accuracy here? Do they even care?

Oh well, it's their game.

BioWare wasn't the source for the information in that article. (Well, not directly)

Wikipedia was.

If it were up to all these misinformed journalists, all of DA2 would be about conquering Cornwall while Oghren makes obscene comments about it every couple cut-scenes.

which would be... a nightmare.
