Its known Leliana and Alistair are below 30 when Orgins takes place.

Also I think David Gaider once said that Morrigan is early thirtys late twenties.

Unsure about companions, but for each origin I'd say that City elf and Magi are around 18 (Elf's wedding signifies adulthood and the Harrowing is kind of like a rite of passage), Human noble is most likey in his/her mid twenties judging by the Teyrn/Teyrna and Fergus. Dwarf noble is probably in their 30s-40s due to Endrin's appearance and Bhelen who is supposedly several years younger than the DN. Dalish elf and dwarf commoner are debatable, but are likely in their twenties as well.

I would agree with most but I think that the Human noble is younger than mid twenties since they're mostly treated like a child.

Not analysing the game's story at all, but I'd estimate most characters are on the late teens/early twenties range as that's Bioware's target audience with this game, and it's an unwritten convention of storytelling to make your principle character the same age as your target audience so they can relate.

You can look up character ages in the toolset by finding their character file, as opposed to their creature file.

Global characters:

Alistair 32 (But Goldana is 30, and Alisair's mother was supposed to have died giving birth to him, so Alistair is probably younger than that)

Arl Eamon 45

Arl Howe 40

Bann Teaghan 30

Bhelen 21 (and you are said to be older than him...)

Bodhan 42

Duncan 42

Greagoir 50

Irving 70

Jarvia 27

Leliana 26

Loghain 50

Marjolaine 36

Morrigan 30

Oghren 35

Owain 29

Sandal 25

Shale 500

Shiani 18

Soris 20

Sten 30

Vaughan 30

Wynne 55

Zevran 24

Prologue:

Cailan 25 (and Alistair is younger than that so...)

Daveth 20

Flemeth 50

Jory 25

Mage origin:

Jowan 20

Lily 18

Leorah 39

Mouse 20

Sweeney 80

Torrin 50

Niall 30

Human Noble origin:

Bryce 40

Eleanor 40

Fergus 30 (obviously adopted)

Darrien 20

Iona 20

Landra 40

Oriana 30

Mallol 35

Nan 35 (!)

Oren 10

Ser Gilmore 25

Dwarf Noble origin:

Gorim is listed as 18...

Arl Howe 40

Christ on a bike, times were hard back then, weren't they? I'd have easily added another decade at least onto any one of these.

Yeah, when it comes to Bryce and Eleanor, we can probably add a decade.

All games make over-30 characters look ancient, though. Ever since BG2, when 40-something Keldorn was given the portrait of somebody's grandfather, it's been that way. But think about it. When you're 20, you do tend to think of 40-somethings as being old. Duncan is probably the first over-40 in the history of gaming that actually looks his age.

Flemeth must be at least 500 years old , along with Wynne who is probably 100.

Since you can give your character grey hair and beard and wrinkles, the Warden's age is somewhat debatable... also, I'd say with a conservative sociaty as the City Elves' they needn't be 18 to marry. They might marry in their early twenties as well. Or much younger...

Even if you make your character look like flemeth, they still call you young and beautiful/handsome.

I'll post my reply to a similar thread to this one a while back.

The things listed in the toolset
aren't always correct though, a lot of things were changed in the
writing but not updated in the Character section of the toolset. It has
Alistair at 32, which is pretty much impossible to the story, and the
Cousland parents both at forty, which wouldn't make much sense with them
having a son listed as 30, or having Bryce take part in the war 30
years ago.

For my impressions:

- I'd put Alistair around
21. It fits with The Calling if you believe the Fiona theory (which I
do) and also fits with the fact he hadn't yet taken his vows as a
Templar.

- The toolset pegs Morrigan at 30, and I'd say around
there. I'd say no younger than 25, but it's hard to make an informed
estimation since she was raised in the Wilds.

- Leliana I don't
see being much older than early thirties, though my first impression of
her was a bit younger, at 24. Toolset has her at 26, though that isn't a
reliable source.

- Zevran seems late-twenties to me. A lot of
people view him as older, but when you consider that he was trained from
a boy it isn't hard to believe he was an accomplished assassin by 27 or
so. Then again, that's just my impression.

- Oghren's toolset age is 35, and I find that believable. My initial impression was at 40 or so, but 35 seems right to me too.

-
Like Morrigan, Sten is hard to make an estimation for since we don't
encounter many qunari in the game and don't know as much about them. I
picture him around forty for his wisdom and appearance, but I'd believe
anywhere from thirty to fifty.

- Wynne, I change my mind about
quite often. When I first saw her, she looked about fifty to me. But
with the whole Aneirin/having a son story, I'd estimate 60-70
now.

As for the Warden, I'd say anywhere from 18-30. I think BioWare left that purposely ambiguous.

Yes, that's quite funny.

I haven't read the books. Does Alistair have to be younger than Cailan?

This is fun. From looks and behaviour, I'd estimate:

Warden: Between 20 and 30, depending on looks selected. Story-wise, closer to 20 than 30.

Alistair: Mid- to late twenties (fully grown up, slightly rugged, and cloistered life keeps you young. He probably flunked several tests and that's why he hasn't completed his templar vows yet... ;))

Morrigan: Late twenties (tries to act older)

Leliana: Mid-twenties

Sten: Forty to mid-forties

Zevran (unmodded!): Late twenties to early thirties (past his "boy toy prime", some wrinkles around the eyes)

Wynne: Early to mid-fifties (she was very young and inexperienced when she met Aneirin)

Oghren: Mid- to late thirties

Shale: Oh, well...

BTW, what does the toolset say about Anora? In RtO you learn that "the queen approaches her thirtieth year", so Cailan being five years younger would be... not unheard of, (see Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon), but at least unusual, I think.

Leliana can't be older than 29 since she was born after the orleasin occupation.

Wait wait wait... Shianni is 18? I pegged her for her mid to late 20s at least. She has laughter lines around her eyes, for crying out loud!

Jowan looks like he's in his late 20's, and Lilly looks like mid 20's. Morrigan's face is too perfect to be 30 - she looks like she's in her 20's too. By 30, there are some wrinkles. Shianni seemed to be older than 18 - maybe early 20's. Iona was married before, and her daughter must be at least 7 or 8. So I'm guessing that she's in her late 20's or early 30's.

Considering Alistair is Cailin's younger brother, yes, he has to be younger.
And assuming the Fiona theory from the books is right (which it most definitely is) Alistair is exactly 20.

Regarding Morrigan, David Gaider said shes late 20's early 30's and assuming the Flemeth+Maric theory is right shes in her 30's.

That's why I said from looks and behaviour. With those lines in his face, he looks definitely older than 20.

Everybody in the game looks older than they actually are. It's kind of odd, but people did live more outdoorsy lives in that kind of a setting, and nothing ages you like wind and sunlight.
