Is this correct?  Once the game is installed shouldn't the game play without the DVD Rom in the drive.  Also, during installation, no screen came up for registeration or any udpate for the patch I keep hearing about.  Game also didn't create a desktop icon I had to create one from the launcher.  Is my game correctly installed?

Do I have to login into the server first?  Weird.  Posted Image

DA:O does not use SecuROM, but it DOES use a basic CD-check. You must have the DVD in the drive to start the game.

DA:O retail version uses a regualr disc check.

DA:O digital download version uses account based authorization.

No SecurROM in either.

Virtually all EA games have SecuROM... to prevent them from being copied and the basic disc check is part of that

No bioware released this info before launch. No SecuROM

"Today, EA took one more step back from the much-maligned
theft-prevention software, confirming that its wholly owned subsidiary
BioWare would not make use of SecuROM in the upcoming PC release of
Dragon Age: Origins.

can you point us to a specific location rather than just a copy-paste? cause I'd not heard that anywhere else

It also has a quote from Biowares forums, so you can find it there too.

interesting... you still have to authenticate DLC online though, just not the basic game

Ya, sounds like EA might be re thinking the whole SecuROM thing. So maybe more games without activation limits. Yeah!!!

Well, you can still use SecuROM without activation limits... since it's also a disc protection system (which is what I thought they'd done this time)
