I've been a Star Wars fan since I was four.  So, for twenty years.  I've gobbled up the movies, games, comics, books, toys, etc.  Though my love of the EU took a hard hit once The New Jedi Order came around.  And I hate alot of what Karen Traviss added.  While there are a lot of things in recent years that I would love to change or get rid of, I still love the franchise, and always will.  Rogue Squadron, the Mandalorians when they are mysterious and menacing, the Rebellion, etc.

I think that whole "jedis must abstain" philosophy was only introduced with the prequel trilogy. Best to dismiss anything that happened in the prequels as non-canon.

Actually Lucas himself has supposedly said that Jedi can have all the sex they want, they just can't form emotional attachments.

One good theory I've seen as to the lesser quality of the prequals is that over the years, Lucas' paronia over anyone tampering with his films has led him to drive away the collaberators who helped him overcome his shortcomings during the first trilogy.

I felt Star Wars ended for me when Revenge of the Sith came out in 2005. But even before that my tolerance for the franchise as a whole was straining, what with two prequel movies that didn't live up to the height (The Phantom Menace was alright, if uninspired. Attack of the Clones was just awful.). I mean, George Lucas could have kept things going strong had he delivered the goods, but in my mind he dropped the ball hard. Much like the Wachowski Brothers did with the Matrix, he crippled his own franchise with his execution.

Still though, I think Star Wars couldn't have survived to this day without some big help from it's Expanded Universe. Some people would say the novels are a big reason for that, although I've only read the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. Though from all accounts I've heard the novels have strayed so far from the franchise roots that you can hardly call them Star Wars anymore.

But the Expanded Universe material that has made the biggest contribution in keeping the franchise alive for me are the videogames. The Jedi Knight games starring Kyle Katarn were great (especially Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy, with appearances from people like Luke, Lando and Chewie. Neatly tying them with the original trilogy). But the real awesome sauce for me was a little game called Knights of the Old Republic. Bioware took everything I loved about Star Wars and repackaged it into a truly epic adventure. The sequel The Sith Lords wasn't all that bad (though it would have helped if Obisidian were allowed to finish the damn game).

Recently though, the Star Wars game front has derailed somewhat with Lucasarts insistence on focusing all their energies on The Force Unleashed series. A series I feel is lacking that elusive Star Wars magic I felt while playing Jedi Knight or KOTOR. But I sincerely hope The Old Republic is a big success, if only for Bioware's sake and not Lucasarts.

You know many virgins can have no sex until 30 and 40, and there have been many monks and saints who haven't had any sex in their lives ... so these Jedis aren't capable of lacking it? you have insulted the Jedi Order :pinched:

I am more for a reboot of some of the games then ending the series.

If their is a KOTOR 3, a new Star Wars strategy game, new Jedi Knight and Battlefront 3 in my lifetime and their awesome, I will be a very happy person.

Also why do people hate on the prequels so much, I know the Phantom Menace wasn't that good but I don't see why their is hate on all the prequels.

Yep, I want that games. about Episode I and II, pod racing and the romantic affair of Anakin has ruined the prequel ... without them and with a better story, Episode I,II could have been great.

Sure the original trilogy was better than the latest one but they were still very enjoyable and emotional to watch and the prequels had expectations so high that these movies were not going to please everyone. (Side note: John Williams' prequel scores are amazing.)

With that said I hope Star Wars never ends just as I'd like to see Mass Effect to continue after ME3. The Star Wars universe is so vast and interesting that I would like to keep seeing what they come up with. I certainly love The Clone Wars TV series which has become one of my favorite shows. Sure if the quality started to dip my opinion would change but it hasn't to me.

As for The Old Republic I eagerly await playing on launch day. The previous MMO Galaxies Pre-CU was a blast and one of my most memorable gaming experiences just as countless Star Wars games have been. Jedi Power Battles, Battlefront, Empire at War, Rebellion, KOTOR, and many more.

Anyway Star Wars love abound and long live Star Wars!!

Expectations were pretty high for Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lord of the Rings and I think the general consensus is he met  if not exceeded them. Sure, not everyone may agree with me (in this case the diehard Tolkien fans who still think Tom Bombadil's omission is a ****ing sin) , but judging from the critical and financial success the LOTR trilogy achieved during it's run, I think the venture was a success.

Lucas didn't meet those expectations when he made the prequels, simple as that. And the general fanboy excuse time and again is that those expectations were too high, which is bull.

The Star Wars prequels are very emotional to watch if the emotion we're talking about is boredom.

How can people say Star Wars is dead when The Old Republic is likely to be the best MMORPG ever made?

You have to admit The Phantom Menace was probably the most anticipated movie in history but it is pointless to argue about this, some people like the prequels some don't, I like them.

I have to admit the MMO does look promising and George needs to move on but not from the STARWARS franchise as a whole but from the story of Anikin and the clone wars he needs to either move farther into the future or make prequels based off the books.

Sorry but the Clone wars series is a bigger piece of sh*t than the prequels, I don't understand how anyone over ten years of age, can like it.

I honestly have pretty high hopes for tOR. It's probably the last Bioware project without EA calling the shots in the development, even now when they have stuck a deal with LucasArts to do all the publishing.

It actually got alot better in series two. Although its still not brilliant and everytime I see Ahsoka I want to put my fist through the screen. The sheer stupidity of that character is unbelievable. I'm willing to accept space monks with lazer swords fighting undead robot guy with 4 arms and a 3 foot tall Sesame Street reject kicking everyones ass. But I won't accept a 14 year old who knows everything and is indeed so proficient that she can be trusted to lead clone troopers and battle General Greivous on her own. She does all this with a snappy attitude and while wearing a f*cking boob tube and mini skirt!! Am I the only one with a huge problem with that? There would need to be a huge pay off to her character in the end up.

Yep, I don't like her too. but Master Fisto, Plo Koon, Cad Bane, Mon Mothma and Jarjar have great roles in the series. Season 3 have some good episodes, like the first two. we should not expect to see all of the episodes are great though. :alien:

Wasn't she a full grown adult Jedi Knight though? Ahsoka is a 14 year old padawan fighting General Grievous on her own in a boob tube and mini skirt. To me theres a whole lot wrong with that.

Aayla Secura is voiced by Jen Hale, though. She's gotta be worth it alone.
